Kevin from www.thesaberfactory.com and in this guide I'm taking you through the 3 different tech of lightsabers that we have for our 3 different ranges :
- Standard option with RGBx board : these are baselit sabers
- Premium options with Xenopixel V2 : these are neopixel sabers
- Deluxe option with Proffie V2.2 : these are also neopixel sabers
This is one of the first videos I'm making for the channel so bear with me 😅 it can only get better. Some issues here and there with shooting and getting to the point, that will improve over time.
I have a long list of guides to produce so subscribe to the channel for more and don't hesitate to suggest videos you'd like to see, it can definitely help me know what are the best topics people want to hear about.

Learning proffie is not for everyone, but if you do, you'll see how much more you can make the lightsaber your own. Most people can get by with Xeno pixel and be perfectly happy with it.

I love Proffie but that audino could never work for me. Everytime I try to clear the board it gave me hell. And I followed absolutely sabers tutorial to a tee and I can't figure out what I did wrong

I recently got my hands on a Xeno and I am very happy with it. I don't have the attention span to learn how to code a proffie, so just being able to add/replace fonts I can still fairly customize is great for me. Plus, I'm not a duelist, so there's little chance of me breaking it.

Can I use a Proffie the same way as a Xenopixel? I wanted a Xenopixel but is out of stock and only choice left is Proffie. Intimidated by the coding side of Proffie so hoping to be able to treat it like a Xenopixel (Add fonts ETC.) And learn how to use the coding at a later date.

Only thing there is to add: You can trust most Neopixel blades alot more these days. My very first blade has been in use for a long time, and it's been through very heavy duelling with very hard blows. I havent seen a single dead or misbehaving LED on it so far. A good friend actually hit his against a lightpole to break it on purpose, and nothing happened. These things are alot more durable than we give them credit for, but a 100 bucks on getting a new blade in CASE is breaks is indeed a reason to be careful. Still, with the overall fun aspect in mind, I do think that a high end xenopixel from a manufacturer that uses top of the line products is indeed the very best for duelling. Will it cost you more IF it breaks? Yes. But is it more fun to use? Definitely yes.

I agree. But there's still so much uncertainty about how it might break that as a reseller I can't advise it. Personally I do hurt my neopixels from time to time and so far so good ;) But I have seen how the copper tape reacts, as the LED strip is rigid, a big blow can make the two plastic sides separate and disconnect the copper band, even rupture it. It's pretty unpredictable. But yeah : neopixel all the way for sure !!

@@thesaberfactory Well, you gotta keep in mind that most standard neopixel blades don't come as heavy grade 1" blades, or 7/8 blades. Many are still 3/4 blades, which i also wouldnt want to use in a battle. But as long as its a 7/8 or 1", I didn't see any issues yet, with 3 of my own blades, and the blades of like 4 friends. It's all a matter of thickness... But still, I do understand that people are scared of using a 100$ blade. Even tho to me, a breaking 1" or 7/8 blade means it had a malfunction before that.

@@miracula7782 As standard we send 3mm thick polycarbonate blades for all 1" and 2mm for the 7/8" blades. For instance the baselit blades are all 2mm and they can go through everything without breaking a sweat. So I have no doubt about our neopixel blades. I'm just putting the right warning, but I'm yet to break one ^^

One of my friends hitted a wall with neopixel (?) Hole in the wall. Nothing in the saber.

There are now pixel to RGB blade adapters for dueling, as well as thicker pixel blades made for dueling.

Yes. These adapters are coming by the end of the month on the site. Although it's no compatible with all sabers since it takes a bit of space, makes the blade stick out a bit more. But 90% of dueling sabers will be fine :) The blades we already have 3mm polycarbonate on neopixel blades and overall they're pretty good for dueling, but if you do weekly academy training with them you'd still have way more issues in a year than we'd want to, so it's hard to warranty that kind of use.

Hey. Thank you. Although this video is quite outdated since those technologies are now discontinued. Xenopixel has been upgraded with Xeno3 (the same, just better) and RGBx is gone and now baselit sabers have the same Xeno3 board than neopixels (which is amazing). I had to get proffie because i could only find the best quality of a specific hilt in a proffie version. I doubt ill program more on it other than what it comes with. Because i only want it to be one blade.

I have a question, are proffie soundboards padronized or each manuffacturer has its own measurements? I`m planning on building my own lightsaber but for that i`ll need to buy a soundboard

All manufacturers can theoretically build them as they wish, so yes sizes could vary. We use darkwolf boards, you can look there for instance as we don't sell the boards individually.

Nice video, dude. Really clear information. You said the neopixel board is pretty different from proffie one. Is the soundboard that different too? I mean the sound they emit is differentiable? Or they are similar?

Thanks. Things have slightly evolved since the video but Proffie remains much better once you start playing with it. The amp is better and can accommodate better speakers, also the config allows to filter frequencies and customize how you want the sound of your font to react and you can better sound definition. Fonts are more complex, there are more levels of everything, more sound effects in general, better fading between effects... Out of the box it's not necessarily a shocker, but once you start doing your thing it can absolutely blow away any other board in terms of sound quality.

Question: if I am getting a double bladed lightsaber for spinning should I get a profile or a xenopixel? What are some good double bladed lightsabers?

Hey. For spinning you're going to want something light and durable so my take would be Baselit ! Blades are much lighter. Some double bladed sabers are one hilt with 2 blades (the Mantis, Inquisitor, Maul rebels version...) others are two hilts together like Maul ep1 or Maul season 7, The Double (currently unavailable). Then you take any 2 dueling sabers in the entry and mid range and you can add a coupler to attach them together.

Is there a noticable difference in terms of sound quality between rgb and xenopixel, since I ordered my xeno pixel saber and recieved an rgb one by accident. I am very disappointed by the poor sound quality of the rgb variant and now I am just wondering if that is a rgb version only problem.

Depends where you bought it ? Not all RGB are equal. The recent update to RGBX is quite good. In terms of swing quality, they are very smooth and reactive. In terms of sound quality the RGBx is kinda muffled and has much less dynamics. Xenopixels are very crisp sounding. In terms of pure sound there's a difference and the gap is noticeable.

Are the xeno or proffite blades similar or the same as the saber force fx master replica blades? If so, would it be possible to replace the master replicas with one of these without changing the core?

They are not unfortunately. Maybe there are some tweaks out there, might be worth diggin around to see what people have found but usually it requires a full repurpose of the hilt to new electronics.

What’s the most reason for a neopixel blade to be broken? Like mine is now broken and I can’t find the reason. The hilt is fine and the LEDs in front are not broken but when I connect my blade on it didn’t turn on. Now I don’t know how should I fix it. It is my first neopixel and it was almost new. How should I fix it?🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Of course first thing is to check with your reseller (if not us) if it's a warranty issue. On neopixel blade we usually cover the first few days, meaning at delivery it must work, after that it's usage problem and out of warranty. Then if you're attempting to fix your blade, it would usually break in two ways : the solders at the base of the LEDs broke or the rigid band delaminated and if the copper is loose or teared off the contact is dead. Usually a blade can be opened as you'll see two little dots on the side a few millimeters off the neopixel base. Take a small screwdriver and push those little pins inside the blade. It will free the neopixel connector and the entire LED strip will come off. You can then check it out and potentially re-solder what's broken.

Couple questions: Does the Xeno allow anything passed 10 blade effects, 7 ignitions, 6 blade effects and 6 motion controls? Or are those not changeable and hence, the Proffie is the ultimate choice? From what I understand, Xeno only lets you add fonts and control volume

You got it right. Xeno won't allow you to add new effects and ignitions. For more in depth customization you'll have to go proffie or golden harvest

Proffie can be used for dueling as well. If you don't want to risk a neopixel blade you can load in a baselit RGB puck with bladeID and use a standard blade.
