Wanted to share my experience with the Megamat 10 & 15 Max :) I own both and love them both. We wanted a duo version for camping with the kids and we chose the Megamat 10 for that purpose because it is a bit more affordable, compact and deflatable than the Megamat 15 duo. We love it, when you lie on it there's a nice support and if you didn't know better it feels like the mat is much thicker than it actually is. My sleep quality and comfort level was about as high as lying in a bed! Convinced by the Megamat 10 duo we decided to bite the bullet and buy a single version of the 15 Max for indoor use (guests, sleepovers) and when one of us would go camping alone (weekend or summer camp or things like that). And wow, I'm so glad we did, it's even better than the Megamat 10 (or my own regular mattress) for me as a side sleeper. I prefer it a bit 'soft', that way I sink into the mat a little but still have evenly distributed support. Like lying on a cloud ❤ I was worried about it being difficult or bulky to handle but that's not the case for the single version. So I like them both. I love the extra comfort the 15 Max brings, but the Megamat 10 is already so nice I don't feel like I miss out when I use it while camping with my partner or kids. Something about that foam-air combo is just magic, in both versions.

I know it's probably hard to put into words, but how much more comfortable is the 15?? I've been eying these up for a while and haven't purchased becsuse I just can't decide.. The price difference is pretty steep, and I guess there's an element of "good enough" I've read that the 15s are as comfortable as a home mattress from more than just you and wanting to purchase for a camping trip coming up for memorial day.. Sorry for the winded post but can you maybe do a more in depth 10 vs 15 description?

​​@@svm5543it's difficult to put into words but I'll try. I like them both, the 10 cm is nice enough but as a side sleeper, I tend to grab the 15 cm if I have the choice. I like that the 15cm can stay a bit softer and squishy for lying on my side without touching the ground. It's even better then most mattresses I own. So even in a cabin with beds I like to have that one on hand. But, if packing space is important for you or you want a double one, the 10cm is a lot more versatile and gives amazing comfort too. Though not as good as my mattress at home. But better than any other camping sleeping arrangement I tried except for the 15cm one. I hope this helps a bit? My kids feel no difference btw, they are of course light weight and then there is less of a difference in the experience I guess. Oh btw the 15cm is also great for car camping. Because it is so thick, I can put it on the uneven underground of my folded down car chairs without feeling that, which is very convenient. If I had only one choice, for my situation I would go for the 15cm, it's that good.

Hi. Thanks for this great video! A couple of questions; if I will be using a double stretcher for a double mat; does the thickness matters? It will not be insulating because it will be risen from the ground but does the thickness gives you a better comfortable sleep? Would a double stretcher with a bar in the middle damage the mat? Hi Pablo, I'd say that if the mattress is thicker you'll be able to mitigate the discomfort of the centre bar better, and adding a mat on top of the mattress will provide more insulation from the cold below than the stretcher itself. It might be worth trying this setup in a store, the centre bar can tend to create a bit of a slope, particularly if you prefer the mattress to be firm. As for the bar damaging the mat, it depends really. If there are brackets or edges that will rub then it certainly could damage the mat over time, but you may be able to get around this with some protective fabric over the rub spots if there are any. Hi! Thanks for the great video. Is it ok to leave the mat in the storage bag for long periods in between camping excursions? I thought I read somewhere that to properly store the mat, it must remain inflated, which would take a significant amount of storage space in my home.

Ideally it's best to store the mat inflated with the valves open, Linda, but as you mention this isn't always feasible. By storing the mat rolled you are essentially developing a memory in the foam to be in a compressed state, which means it will take much longer for the mat to inflate when you unroll it at camp, and you'll likely need to use the inflation aid to pump most of the mat up. So to answer your question, you can store it rolled up, but don't expect it to inflate quickly at camp. I store mine semi-compressed inside my swag to save on space. ~ Ben

The primary reason for recommending the mats be stored with valves open, is for the memory foam to retain its memory, and faster self inflation when you need it. I highly recommend owning a Schnozzel Pumpbag, so you can inflate your mat on demand, and thus you're able to leave the mat rolled up between uses for extended periods of time.

I’m 6’1” and 240 pounds... for a larger guy like myself I am looking at either the exped deep sleep or mega mat. Would you recommend either? From what I understand the R-value is better on the deep sleep yet it’s thinner? Thank you for putting out a very comprehensive video...

I think the Mega Mat would be a better choice, Father Time, as the extra height gives you more flexibility to adjust the mat to suit your comfort levels. The r-value between the two is similar and the average user isn't going to notice the difference. ~ Ben

Would the deep sleep 7.5 be ok in warmer climates too ? Or is 7.5 going to keep too much heat on your body. The desert climate where I’m at can go as low as 20fh to 115 fh durning the day. This mat will be used for more night sleeping. Thanks for the video.

I don't think there will be much difference in these in warmer climates, Eric, unless you are trying to insulate from particularly warm ground underneath, in which case a higher r-value may keep your sleeping surface cooler. ~ Ben

Can you tell me the height of the 7.5 and the 10 when fully deflated for use in a slim line roof top tent with not much room thanks

This is going to depend on how much you deflate them, Les. If you squash the foam between your fingers they go down to about 1cm, but you'd be wrestling with your rooftop tent to squeeze that much air out. If your RTT came with a 5cm mat then you could likely use either mat, but I reckon you may need to deflate your mat a bit before folding up your rooftop tent to save wrestling with it too much, especially a 10cm mat. Just be aware of the folding mechanisms in the rooftop tent, you don't want them to puncture the mats. Hope that helps. Ben

Thanks, good info. I take it that the 7.5 won't "bottom out" at the hips for side sleepers, it just might mean you need the mat to be a little firmer than you might with the 10 or 15? EDIT: you answered my question in a reply to another comment - thank you!

7.5 cm should be fine, Likijy10. Extra thickness gives you a bit of flexibility if you want your shoulders and hips to sink further into the mat, but if space is a consideration then the thinner mats are a good option. ~ Ben

I reckon it would make the most difference if you prefer a soft mat, Marisa, in which case the 15cm thickness gives you more room to sink into. If you like a hard surface to sleep on then the will both be equally as comfortable. ~ Ben

I just bought the deep sleep Duo and the single megamat. The 4” thick megamat is thick enough that should be enough for most people. It is more comfortable than the Deep Sleep at 3” thick

@@TRUTHISABSOLUTE777 you can always get a stretcher bed for your dog from outdoor connection, its elevated, and you can purchase the fleece liner to go on top for warmth, throw a blanket over top of dog and your done. Comes in small and large beds as well depending on dog size.

Deepsleep has more r value (8.5) than the thicker Megamat (8.1) Go figure. It’s the better pad for me and much cheaper.

That's most likely due to the Deepsleep containing extra foam, elmosian. If you compare the weights, the 7.5cm thick Deepsleep weighs just under 2.6kg, whereas the 10cm thick Megamat 10 weighs just over 2.6. Exped have likely put more consideration into the cut of the foam in the Megamat in order to make it compact but thick, but this comes with a lower R-value, but very few people will notice the difference. ~ Ben
