So I thought I'd ask (but doubt I am going anywhere stuck in Melbourne lol). How does this compare to say the Sea to Summit comfort plus? I have got a Sea to Summit Self inflating one, the basic mid-green one, but find it is way to thin for me to get a good night sleep, R-value isn't as much a worry, I do plan a snow trip at some point, but there are other ways to manage that. But just need a slightly better mat for sleeping.

The Sea To Summit Comfort Plus will be similar in quality, Matthew. Whether is is as comfortable is yet to be determined as the Deep Sleep mats from Exped are relatively new. What you do get from the Exped mats is the square edges which creates a larger sleeping area. Sea To Summit do have their own square edged mat though called the Comfort Deluxe, you can see it here - www.snowys.com.au/comfort-dlx-si-sleeping-mat-lw. This is more comparable to the Deep Sleep mats as well as being a little thicker. ~ Ben

I love my Megamat 12LXW, and these look really good too. Are they insulated like my 12LXW (which is -20c, from memory)? Do these valves accept the snozzle pump sack?

I'm not overly familiar with the Megamat 12, it is from their lite range which are air filled mats with a microfibre synthetic insulation inside. I didn't mention the r-value of the mat in the video, which is how the thermal properties of the mat are now measured rather than a temperature rating. Using the latest ASTM F3340-18 standard the Deep Sleep mats measure at R-9, whereas the Megamat Lite 12 is R-5.2, which means that the Deep Sleep range are better insulators than the Lite 12. Can you fold the smaller one to fit better on the back of a bike in a dry bag? I've tried this mattress. It was great for a side sleeper but too lo g for a bike tour. Would be great if it could fold without damaging. TIA

You could fold it then roll, Dawn, the double version is packed in this manner. I've never tried it though, so I'm not sure what sort of size it ends up being. ~ Ben

We don't sell the Nemo brand, Sanmitra, so I can't comment on performance, comfort or durability, but I can say that Nemo is a reliable brand and I don't have any reason to recommend either brand over the other. We have sold Exped for many years though, I own an Exped, my wife has slept on it comfortable whilst pregnant and it is just as comfortable now as it was when I purchased it almost 10 years ago. On top of this we have loads of positive feedback on the Exped mats, so we at Snowys have no reason not to recommend an Exped mat. I hope that helps. ~ Ben

Would have been handy to see how it inflates and how long it takes to do so. Good video otherwise.

The inflation time will vary depending on how it is stored, Mike. If it is stored in an inflated manner, then it would take less than a minute for it to do it's own thing, then another minute to top it up and make it firm to your liking. If, however, you store your mat in a compressed state, and it has been this way for some time, you may need to wait 30-60 minutes. You can speed it up by inflating it yourself though, which would take about 5 minutes with the Exped Mini Pump. I hope that helps. ~ Ben

They are not the cheapest my any means, but the Exped mats are super comfy, ThatGirl711. I've never heard complaints in terms of comfort compared to any other camp mats on the market. ~ Ben
