Nice collection. Just to let you know, your water bottle skeleton carriers are Canadian issue as they have the press stud at the front. British issue carriers have the press stud at the top, next to the cork. No big deal, just for information.

Very well done. When pattern 1937 web equipment was adopted, the water bottle was to be carried in the haversack as opposed to being in a carrier attached to the braces. When the pack was warn whilst changing stations the water bottle is moved to the right hip in a water bottle carrier. For some reason the manual has it listed in the configurations section then stipulates that it should be carried in the haversack. It is interesting that there was no entrenching tool for the set until 1940.

Thanks for the information! And it is very interesting, it is also interesting from an Australian point of view that although thousands of entrenching tools were made for Aussie troops it is very rare to see a case of them being issued to Aussie troops, and there is no solid evidence as to why that is.

Your welcome, it is certainly a bit strange not to have used them after being produced.

@@WWIIUK yeah, if you look at period photos it’s almost impossible to see Aussie troops with one

Would the section leader carry an officer setup or would he carry the regular setup?

A section leader would carry the regular set up, officers sets were for officers and warrant officers only (with some exceptions depending on posting and situation)
