I turned 21 in 1991 & only Glocks I ever saw was in big FFL dealers but didn't see hardly any in my rural area until 2000 on so by then the generation 3 Glock was everywhere. I have 3 , 4,& 5 and a P80 retro Glock sold few years ago through Lypseys. Awesome collection. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll never understand why they changed the grip from the gen 1. In my opinion was the best frame Glock had. Gen 5 is pretty good also.

I think the Gen 2 was the best. I gave my personal Gen 2 19 to my oldest some for Christmas a few years ago. Now I'm on the hunt for another to carry myself. The 43X has been filling the void for now. I never liked the Glocks with the finger grooves.

Under federal law the gun has to have the country of origin on it somewhere, usually this is on the slide, but the original P80 does not say "Austria" on the slide, so neither does this one, and that's why they put Made in Austria on the frame.

In America the lower is the gun. So makes sense to put it there.

Old school mags only dropped free when partially empty. They didn't drop free when filled with 17 rds very well from my own experience.
@burmiester14 жыл бұрын
Correct, was just about to mention that. This is because the old mags weren't lined with steel so the plastic swelled when full.

Because those old mags were gay.

The old magazines were intentionally meant to swell when full so they would not accidentally drop out and be lost in the snow. If you watch the interview with one of the executives talking about the p80 in his review

Years ago, only the serial number had to be on the frame and the maker, maker location, importer and importer location could be on the slide, but now all info has to be on the frame.

I’ve never been a fan of the finger groove Glocks. My favorite is the Gen 2, and the Gen 5 right after that. The grip texture on this will not be as good as the Gen 4,3,2,5

They put the "Made in Austria" on the frame to prevent people from passing them off as an '80s original.
@DaleErnieMichael Жыл бұрын
My P80 came with a metal reinforced newer style mag but it only has one mag catch notch in it so I'm guessing there's a few rolling changes being made. Also not sure if it has the polygonal rifling as it's my first Glock but it kinda looks like regular rifling and looks nothing like my old Jericho's barrel which is definitely polygonal. I know gen 5 Glocks have regular button rifling but I don't have one to compare.

The barrel is thinner in the original (can be seen in vid). Original had a "recall" as it was NOT drop safe!. The real original internals were black and somewhat different, there is ample information on the internet. The locking block on the original looks "weaker" as do the rails (thin). Not sure the if you can "fire" exchanging slides.......
@Tony.7954 жыл бұрын
The original locking block appears to be machined and the new ones are MIM, not sure though.

I am Glock's biggest critic but I am in love with these Gen 1 replicas. I've always loved the old school Glocks but they're impossible to find. So it's cool that they decided to make new ones. I'd much rather have a reproduction Gen 1-3 over a new Gen 4 or 5.
@M60gunner19714 жыл бұрын
@@burmiester1 your reply indicates that you have a very base and rudimentary knowledge of advanced weaponry. Please speak not again.
@burmiester14 жыл бұрын
@@M60gunner1971 Not sure how you can sit there lecturing me on the mechanical complexities of weaponry. A Gen 5 Glock is scarcely different from a Gen 2 Glock, all of the improvements are minor cosmetic alterations (mag release, backstraps, grip texture, recoil spring, rifling, etc) the basic design has remained practically the exact same since 1983. But somehow stating that I would prefer an old Glock is a controversial statement? It's the SAME DAMN GUN! But at least the old ones were cheap and had a sort of style to them. These new ones are overpriced status symbols that have been long surpassed in their own market by the competition (CZ, Walther, Beretta, I could go on).
@M60gunner19714 жыл бұрын
