Compassion: Lessons from my daughter | Stan Steindl | TEDxUQ

Drawing inspiration from his daughter, Stan invites us on a journey towards embracing and nurturing compassion within ourselves and in our interactions with others. Dr Stan Steindl is a Clinical Psychologist at Psychology Consultants Pty Ltd, and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. He is also co-director of the UQ Compassionate Mind Research Group, and convenor of the annual UQ Compassion Symposium. Stan has over 25 years experience as a therapist, supervisor, trainer, and researcher. Stan’s research interests are in the areas of compassion and compassion-based interventions, and especially the role of cultivating compassion and self-compassion in the context of trauma, shame, self-criticism and clinical disorders. A fantastic talk. So personal and touching but drives home so much of CFT. This is definitely a video I’ll revisit and share with colleagues and clients.

Thank you Stan for covering many main points of CFT from such a personal perspective. I will be sharing this with my clients as part of introducing key concepts in CFT. Also, I found it such a helpful nudge to me to think about the second and third flows and how I can open myself to and cultivate these in myself ❤
