You guys are spot on about expensive rifles. I've taken a $600 savage and made it into a great, precise gun. It took about $5000 to do it, so yeah can you build a gun up, but as you guys said, it's the same price as going through gunwerks. plus, I guarantee half of the guys saying this, don't reload, or even shoot match ammo. they're probably shooting ball ammo, or cheap hunting cartridges, at 200 yds, max!

@@txpredatorhunting I actually got the awesome experience of touring the gunwerks facility, in Cody, WY, this past summer, while my son and I were on vacation at Yellowstone. I can tell you, I completely understand the price point they have. Every machine there, was spotless, even while being used. You could eat off the floor! The r&d dept, the displays of how they've developed over the years, the store front, and shop, were absolutely top tier. As a machinist and operations coordinator over a small machine shop and field service division, it was everything I could envision of how a manufacturing facility should be. It was an awesome experience, I hope to buy one of their masterpieces one day, for both me and my son

I’ve put together a couple “custom” rifles, and you’re 100% right. Yes you can put together one for slightly less but your paying for a system, and to have that system developed when it gets to your door…. What are components worth now if you can even get them? What’s your time worth? Research, load development, trips to the range to get it juuust right? I used to be one of those “why would you buy a gun works? 10k?!? That’s crazy”…. It makes sense if you have the money and the need for a package like that. If a guy wants to take a rem 700/ custom rifle action, and do all the leg work himself go for it. It’s fun. There is a time and place for that and a sense of relief and accomplishment when you get it to your acceptable level of accuracy. When you find the perfect load/ parts bought and put together it’s great, but it still not the same thing. your still not a gun builder if your just spinning a pre fit barrel… you’re a gun fitter, not the same thing and they should probably get off their high horse. 😂

I own the bog pod titanium They were 179 .99 - The only reason why I bought mine was because they had a sale at our local gun shop and they were 60 bucks. Right before Christmas . I think it's an OK product but Awfully jiggly when it is fully extended in the weight of the rifle And tip it either forward or backwards. Even when you screw all the tension in. But even in the owner's manual it says do not screw it all the way in because it will break

Correct again, 224 was going to be my coyote, and pig gun. I got a 6ARC instead. It hates Hornady Black, but I tack drive 103 eld's with leverEvalution, and it's reasonably accurate with the 58vmax with exterminator. I'm going to try 80 ttsx on coyotes and hogs next.

My custom Coyote rifle was a radical arms Blue line with a custom barrel from Green Mountain in New Hampshire 18" Heavy With 2 and a 1/2 pound trigger. To finish my mark 12 clone. I have a couple of the Green Mountain barrels and I find them fantastic . They are hard as h*** to get as of this day because they picked up a military contract. That has to speak for the quality but there's no problem shooting 500 yd putting groups together the size of a Canolope With Ease . I think there is a difference between quality for sure

I made my own thumper, just as an experience with some of my family members - MDT LSS, Zeus action, trigger tech & a 16” pre-fit proof barrel. It is a very nice little rifle, easy to carry in my pack OR shooting from my wheelchair etc. Beats archery in my opinion, one day maybe I’ll get good enough to actually give it a run for its money in the accuracy department. All of it was free except the action and barrel so, definitely worth what I put into it. If I had the money, yeah I’d love a fully custom rifle made by an actual professional.

Can't deny 6.5CMs success for non-hunters. Of course, some hunters swear by it as well. I personally like a whole lot more velocity - 3000+ with that weight due to emphatic terminal performance, not just 'sufficient'. 6mm ARC should be amazing. It's big hold back, IMO has been availability of magazines - initial round of mags got a really, really bad rap.... Everything is a compromise. Compromise price vs. features. Compromise price vs. 'pride of ownership' / expensive brands. Not sure I follow the drivel of it all, but do your research. Realize that a lot of 'reviews' are compensated, compromised, or done by people who're just ignorant. Learn. I mean - all about whatever it is you want to do, and look at what others have used as their 'first' in that area. In the end - buy what you want, based on what you learned, features, and yes the brand you want. My first 1,000 yd gun was a $379 Big-Store holiday special Savage in 6.5CM wearing a $299-on-sale Vortex scope. More than one person benefited from that combination, too. As I learned, I brought others in so they could see what was going on - and then they went and got what they wanted. More recently I'm into NF and Accuracy International, custom actions, custom barrels - not bragging; that's where the 'hobby' took me. I mean - doesn't a piano player who started out on a $89 holiday toy eventually want to play a Steinway (assuming they kept at it)? You think Knights and Accuracy are expensive? Sheesh. You can let the money get in your head, or not. Don't over-extend doing this stuff; the vast majority is still on the shooter. When it's time to spend to help chase that next 1/10th MOA, next big hunt, 3-Gun trophy - whatever.. you'll know you're there and it's probably become a lifestyle along the way.

A lot of talk about the 6 mm ARC. One of my favorite channels is the Social Regressive. Kyle built on a CMMG with his choice of optic and bipod and assorted accoutrement and saw it as a truck gun. Good for varmints like groundhogs or rock chucks up to whitetail deer. And certainly it could fulfill that role. He is on Oklahoma and I do not know what the state rule is on minimum caliber. I am in Texas and I know that on the TPWD drawn hunts that allow centerfire, you have to have at least .243 Win. Which means that 6 mm would qualify. I don't have one. I have a handful of .308 W and I now have a 7 PRC which is becoming my all over favorite.

I know it would be a niche group of varmint hunters but I would love to see a high BC 50-65 gr .20 cal bullet for a better varmint gun in the wind. Something along the lines of a wildcat 20-250 pushing a 55-60gr at the same speeds as 22-250 with a 55 or a 204 with a 40gr.

I have zero issue with gunwerks price point. But their ballistic turret sales pitch is pure garbage and specifically takes advantage of unkowing enthusiasts that have a ton of money. Ill take a high quality ffp mil or moa scope that i can take anywhere and never have to "swap turrets" just because my elevation or ammo changed. Which in reality.... if any atmospheric, zero, or ammo changes... that ballistic turret is useless.
@tphpodcast
@tphpodcast 9 ай бұрын
For sure. We always switch the old one back on. What I’ve seen over the years from a lot of Gunwerks customers though, is that they know exactly where they’ll be going on their next hunt and get a custom turret cut. Or there’s always the rangefinder option which has become extremely economical in recent years, especially with the BR4. As this point there’s pretty much no reason to not go with a laser rangefinder, especially with how intuitive they’ve become, and the availability. That’s not even considering the Revic line of optics.

Gota admit this channel brought me outa my tunnel vision fudd like ways. Yes there is a case to be made for the traditional cartridges and rifles designs. Tried n true traditional still is relevent. But that dont mean things havent progressed like alot. And things that were a stretch ir just flat not possible 20years ago ,can be done with ease today. Don't get stuck in a rut people. Life is short try new shit and enjoy yourself.
