You are one lucky man. I'm not as lucky with 145k and heavy rattle at startup today and cleaned clugged up EGR a year ago and installed oil catch can. Mine is burning oil and catch can gets full after a while

Just wanted to thank you! I am in Florida and Walter, your mechanic came and did an awesome job on my Lexus CT200H. After being ripped off by several mechanics including Lexus dealer, finally you came and saved my car. Three different mechanics told me to salvage my car because it was done. You guys came and brought it to live for much less money than others here in FL ask for. Job done right in front of my home (whatttt!) The engine was took apart and head gasket replaced in front of my home in several hours, 4 to be exact. Thank!!!!!

@@reocam8918 No, they did not fly. It happened that they had a mechanic doing a type of a cross country job ( I know it sounds incredible; to me it was a miracle.) The mechanic was doing this type of repair across US since they know dealers and most shops rip off customers and have no idea how to handle this issue. When I called, the mechanic was right by the next County I was in Florida; thus, it was really easy for him to show up next day. If you need them, I would call. My experience was incredible. A lady picks up the phone and she is super friendly and understanding. Good luck!

Thank you Gasket Masters! I just used this video to replace my 2zr-fxe in my lexus ct 200h 2014. It took me 3 days. Only issue I had was no part in the video shows removal and re-attachment of the exhaust manifold, but it was easy to figure out on my own.

I wish they had that in the video. I was trying to pull the engine out without disconnecting those bolts asd I didn't know about them. I had to remove the stud bolts/manifold from the block as I had no way of getting under the engine with the cherry picker hoocked up. Then, needed to spend a week loosening the bolts with WD40 so they didn't break. Used a low PSI pneumatic impact wrench from underneath.

Just snug them up-don't do them up real tight otherwise you will pull the soft alloy apart. They come out easily and that gives you a guide to the tightness required.

Great job, I am doing swap atm for Prius 05 and following your video and stuck to separate engine from the gear. When I left the engine it separates from the gear below more than top and I could not take it out completely. Any advice please ? Thanks

I just bought a used JDM (Japanese Direct Motor) engine assembly that came with the damper assembly and flywheel sub-assembly. I'm doing an engine swap on my 2010 Prius with 289k miles. The damper from the newer JDM engine has been revised or updated. I can't get a solid answer as to whether the JDM new/revised damper is compatible with my older transaxle and engine flywheel sub-assembly. The size and bolt locations are identical. Some of the "sales people" at JDM retailers are saying it's not compatible and they recommend that I use my old one, and others reps say the opposite. As is understandable, the sales people typically don't have experience doing engine swaps. Have you guys at GM had any experience with these import engines? Any thoughts on damper and flywheel compatibility? And many thanks for this great video. The old engine is out of the car and waiting on the replacement one. Wouldn't have made it this far without your video. Thanks.

prius v had jdm engine swap by a local shop but mechanic have not been able to turn on the car. Shop can not find why engine will not turn on. dash lights up normal but no crank. Tried maintenance mode to turn on but it will not go into maintenance mode nor crank. Any suggestions or mechanic in sw Florida that can help?

Man thanks for your video. I just finished the job and it wont start. It says “check hybrid system stop the vehicle in a safe place” My 12v battery did die and I gave it a little charge. I wonder if I need to fully charge the 12v?

My Prius 2012 with 140,000 miles on it stopped me on the road. The car engine nolonger starts but it can move or drive on HV battery only. The scan says P3147, P0335 and P0A0F. But later the P3147 stopped showing. I have changed the crankshaft position sensor, its good but I changed it. checked the reluctor plate inside the engine and its in its position and in good shape and I changed the ECU or brainbox. The crankshaft position sensor wire harness is good. Still the car can't start. Before this issue I have been having rattling and knocking sound in the engine at idle or low speed only when the hybrid battery is charging. If it's not charging the rattling noise doesn't come on. No error codes on that. I cleaned egr valve, nozzles, pc valve, inlet manifold, throttle body and changed plugs still the noise didn't stop. I beginning to think the problem is my transaxle. The MG1 motor that starts and charges the HV battery. Remember I said my car only rattles when the car is charging the HV battery on idle or low speed. Now the car cannot start. I am thinking of changing the whole engine including the transaxle. What do you think the issue is? My location is Lagos Nigeria

I drilled a 5 mm hole in the alloy block (roughly 1/4") from the rear and with a punch tapped them out from behind-that way they & the hole are undamaged and can be reused.

Direct replacement. There is one sensor near the intake manifold that has to be swapped. Otherwise they are identical

Yes! 12v battery is in the trunk, 10mm nut. Hybrid battery disconnect is in the trunk too. Bright orange disconnect visible when you take trunk floor and black basin out. Make sure you keep windows open and don't close the trunk all the way when you disconnect. Makes getting it back together easier

Seems like your gasket is worn. Sometimes it's cheaper to replace the engine with a low mileage used one as opposed to having a rebuilt done.
