Does anyone know of a shop around the Chicago, IL or Milwaukee, WI area that does head gaskets on a 2012 Lexus CT200H. My CT200H bought just 4 weeks ago needs a new Head Gasket and the Lexus dealership wants over $4k. Appreciate any help and thanks for this very informative video.

Reusing the bolts is safe if they measure within spec? Is this user error?

hard to believe the intake O-Rings were reused as well as head gasket sealer on the 3 hole O ring on the top of the cam tower where it seals to the valve cover. buying a complete head gasket has all this except the 2 O- Rings at the front timing chain end... PLUS the cylinder walls were trashed from burning coolant nd I'm sure it would need a short block anyway... yes, Toyota has an updated head gasket and I use the Fel Pro all the time with no issues.

Thank you very much you have really helped me fix my 2013 Toyota Prius many times. I really appreciate it thank you for posting these videos and helping other people who don't have that much money to fix their cars right now I'm a student and I would have not have had the money to fix my car but after watching your videos I am totally confident and any problem I come across with my car I have. I just have one question though should I clean the EGR valve after cleaning the channels in the intake? I want to keep this car for a long time so I'm guessing your answer is yes LOL

lfg! 😂 I would take a polaroid camera that instantly prints the photos to photograph a basic idea of where nuts and bolts for each part are and set those nuts and bolts next to the photo and number label the photo. Since there are just so many nuts and bolts to keep track of.

Excellent video, gave me a good idea what to expect if I were to take on the project as I have a bad lifter. I will add that the little melody in the background is not really helpful imo. Ciao

First timer myself here, I was able to successfully change my own headgasket. Saved me a ton of $$$ doing it myself. CLEAN YOUR EGR COOLER at least every 100k miles. Number one cause of failing your headgasket. Mine gave at 146k miles.

I have a 2011 Toyota Prius that I took to the Toyota dealership for diagnostics and they told me it had a blown head gasket. I then was going to take it to a friend who works on cars, and he claimed that once you undo all the sensors on this kind of car that it's computer would have to be reprogrammed and that he thought it was better for me to have the dealership do this repair than him. If you don't mind my asking... is this true? They are asking me to pay them $3600 for this repair which is hard for a guy like me with a big family. If computer doesn't have to be reprogrammed.. then how much could I save by doing this repair myself?

Thanks for the excellent video and experienced commentary. While I have worked on many cars this is the first Prius head gasket I have changed and the video served as a great reference. The dealer wanted $5,000 + parts to change the head gasket for my 2011 Prius. My advice to those tackling this job is to stay organized as you take parts off. I labeled and numbered plastic bags as I disassembled each component. This kept me organized and made reassembly much easier as I had to work on this during free time on several weekends. I also would recommend taking the time to look at the EGR ports on the manifold and clean it if needed. I have 208,000 miles on my Prius and 2 of the 4 EGR ports were completely clogged and the other 2 were about 60% clogged. The car is now running great!! I contributed to your beer and pizza fund and again thanks for this video.

Thank you very much for doing this video. The only other video I saw so far to date was saying the engine had to be removed. Excellent tips and techniques. I’ve been meaning to get a set of timing tensioner pins for a while. I’ve always used small allen keys. I keep the smallest ones in a bag. But for $15 for 6, they’ll come in handy. I’ll probably watch this video at least 3 more times before I complete the R&R. Thanks again.
