Great review. I have used Noteability for several years now and I love it. As a student I can export a backup to my Google drive and share those notes with other students. Works like a charm. I have never used Goodnotes. I think it’s because I prefer the way noteability organizes notes.

@@PaperlessX I agree with you. It's not that bad. I like the zoom box feature, but it still leaves my writing a bit too small. I wish there was a way to increase the size later in discrete amounts rather than by stretching the marching ants selection, since then I'm not consistent.

@@PaperlessX How cute! I loved it! Yes, you spelled it perfectly! In many moments, the spelling of words in Portuguese resembles words in English somewhat. For example: "Boa noite" means "Good night". Note that the adjective "good" in Portuguese has the masculine form (bom) and the feminine form (boa), which does not happen with the English language. As the word "noite" is a feminine noun, the adjective must accompany the noun and, therefore, we speak "Boa noite". ;-)

Great as always. My best feature is also the video recording. Meanwhile, Notability syncs very well between the Mac & iPad; almost instantly. However, on iPhone, sync is a problem. I have re-installed the app on iPhone twice but still having the same problem.

Good advice about starting with writing on glass vs. jumping directly to PaperLike. But... There are several benefits that make PaperLike a must for me. #1 is actually fingerprint rejection. iPads can get really smudged and require frequent cleaning. PaperLike hides smudges and fingerprints extremely well. I like the feel of the rougher texture on my finger when using gestures. I think it makes the colors look more natural by reducing gloss. And yes, I really like the “paper like” texture when writing.

WOW!!! What a Amazzzzing video ( tutorial) , this really helped me ! I have had this and other note taking apps forever- but I was intimidated to use and dive into them - these videos are helping me to take the plunge and get back into my writing - the handwriting & handwriting recognition features in the apps I have installed will help me greatly because I have some paralysis in my left pinky and ring fingers and it is difficult to type . I always like your videos. This one is no exception. Very detailed and well made. I recognized one interesting detail. If you scan a document with the integrated iOS feature, than you can choose between different filters: color, grayscale, binary and photo. Only with the photo filter scan, notability is able to differentiate handwritten text beside printed characters on the same paper. Working not always robust but interesting to know. Hope to see more from you :)

Yes, their site does give that impression. But you actually can’t. You can view the iCloud versions of your notes though. Even that is not really viewing, more like access to download it

I'm a new user, trying to find the right annotation app. I have a question about imported PDFs: My teacher sends me PDF outlines with links to youtube videos, webpages, etc. When I import them into Notability the links don't work anymore. If I want all my pdf files in Notability (I use Notability strictly as a pdf annotator and I have hundreds of pdf files in it) backed up, so that I can download them all when I get a new iPad and have everything look the same, is iCloud storage the way to go? Right now, they automatically back up to GoogleDrive. But I do not know if I can download them all to a new iPad easily with Google Drive. Thanks for any advice!

Hey Kathryn, if you got a new iPad you can just copy everything onto the new iPad if you still have the old one. That would be the fastest easiest way to do it. iCloud works but it's been having some issues lately. I hope they fix the bug soon (or it might not even affect you).

When you setup the new iPad, make sure the older one is close by and connect them to the same wifi. The new iPad will dictate you have an old iPad and will ask you to copy that iPad onto the new one.

Is there any pdf editing and note taking app for Samsung tab s7 like notability, Flexcil, good notes etc which are there for iPad Pro?? I think the lack of these kind of apps is the only reason preventing me from purchasing an android tablet. We have no experience with Android yet and we have mostly avoided it due to its lack of apps too. Foxit reader is a decent app, but not as good as Flexcil or GoodNotes as far as inking is concerned

The irritation I still have with Notability is that dividers and subjects don't provide namespace isolation, individual note names have to be unique. For example in my language studies I cannot have different subjects containing notes common to each subject, such as: Vocab, Verbs, Grammar etc. I have to prefix them with a unique identifier such as the lesson name (which is what I use), so I get something like A2.2.1 Vocab, A2.2.1 Verbs etc. It's ok but requires a bit of renaming for each new lesson/subject. This will actually be easier now since I hadn't noticed the Edit mode multi-rename before, so thanks for that one, saved me some time again.

the big disadvantage of onenote is that this little dot that reflects movement on your tablet is so small that it is very hard to see. When you go to lower line you have to look for your dot for hours.
