No rust. What a joy. Removing the electric connectors from their mounting posts is really tough when the posts are rusted.

oh my god. This start is 100% crazy. I did one for my dad maybe like 6 years ago and it took me 8 hours of fighting. On the ground of the garage floor and no room to put the starter in. The wires are very short. I can probably put one in now in about an hour.

Good job. I remember doing the rear engine mount replacement on my 2005 scion xA . I had to removed the exhaust pipe and to be able to access my arms up the tight opening from the crossmember.. That was some experience for me but worth it in the end.

I like the paper towel trick at 18:05. I used to do that with scotch tape when I was an aircraft mechanic. Just stick it over the socket and then stick the bolt or nut in. It comes off easy and doesn't stick since scotch tape isn't that sticky. The sticky side is towards the socket too.
@FixItAngel17 күн бұрын
thank you for watching and the comment. the paper towel never fails. that's cool you were an aircraft mechanic. i have a couple of my friends that do that.
@ruck-a-tron17 күн бұрын
@@FixItAngel yeah, I just retired from the Air Force a few years ago. We had all kinds of tricks because dropping a nut or tool in the wrong place could be a nightmare to find. You think the engineers that designed cars are bad, their aviation brethren are worse.

@2:55 that’s what I was asking myself when working on a 2014 Honda Accord 2.4L. Was very annoying where they put the starter. And I don’t understand why they don’t just put it on top of the transmission like they used to smh. So I used several extensions with a socket, and an impact wrench through the passenger-side wheel well.

Angel, you are lucky that you live in a desert climate, because in the snowy areas of the country, most of those bolts and other fasteners you were removing, would be stuck on really bad with rust. Plus most of the undercarriage would be coated with a lot of rust, dirt and mud.

One of the most valuable abilities a mechanic can have at his disposal is the ability to curse as he is busting his ASS to work around a poorly engineered vehicle. If engineneers had to work on what they design, perhaps cars would be somewhat accessable to work on. But we know that is only a DREAM !!
