Roughly 70% concussions recover within a few weeks yet 18-24% won’t be back to work at 6 months.
Why such a big difference?
Well…there may be underlying differences in these two groups from the start. In this episode, I’m going to break down exactly what these differences are and how
you can start applying specific strategies to build a strong foundation for concussion recovery.

11 months post multiple concussions. I'm 17 minutes into the video and it's word for word what I'm going through every day up until this moment.

Not every concussion is equal, people also have different amounts of csf and different structures of arachnoid trebeculae which are basically collagen fibres that anchor from the surface of the brain on the pia mater directly attached to the arachnoid mater, basically stitches the brain to the skull..these do get damaged. Find it baffling how these structures never get a mention when they’re responsible for holding the brain in place.

Does this matter? And if so, how? The evidence on concussion demonstrates fairly similar forces involved for concussion injuries. So although there may be differences as you mention in structure, CSF fluid density, the overall evidence points to a similar magnitude of angular and linear acceleration causing concussions...

Dr Marshall, can you please go more into exactly what therapies/ interventions calm the nervous system? AND what if vision therapy helps calm the nervous system and inflammation? What if not exercising properly causes the inflammation?

HRV (resonance) breathing has been revolutionary for me in recovery. I highly suggest reading Heart Breath Mind and following their guide.

I've been trying to do his since I was a kid in gr.4 after my one concussion but nobody would help me of listen to what my needs were since infanthood. Abusive upbringing with pure isolation and no medical history doesn't help

I have had post-concussion syndrome for a while, including vision issues. One of the first things I was told, right after my accident, was to rest my brain; no screen-time, lots of sleep, and eventually seek medical concussion specialists (optometry, vestibular, psychological, physiotherapy, etc.). I know, tall order. Good luck to you.

Holy shit, how do I slow the speed down. I’m ready to jump out of my skin because it’s so fast and I got the basic idea of going in order but I’m you’re throwing way to much out at once. I put t the e phone down after less than 10mins or I was going to whip it across the room.

This video was difficult for me to follow because you are talking to fast and don't really describe any solution on how to fix step one I had a tbi four years ago

At the end I say that it's too much to go into stepwise detail for how to fix each step as it would be a 20 hour explanation...but we do have programs that walk you through how to fix each step
