The beaver’s most distinctive feature is their large flat tail, which serves as a rudder when swimming, a prop when sitting or standing upright, and a storehouse of fat for the winter. Beavers will also slap their tail on the surface of the water as a danger warning to other beavers or sometimes in play. They do not use it to carry mud.

you should use the PVC trick. 12" PVC run through their dam out into the middle of the new pond. The beavers will rebuild over the PVC and won't be able to feel where the water is escaping. They naturally can tell the source of a current. Once they realize their dam isn't retaining water and they can't fix it, they'll move on.

Very noble clearing those blockages, but you have to be more careful brother. I've seen guys get swept away and pinned by debris. You really should have someone with you to try and assist if something were to go wrong. Be safe brother!!

I was so happy to see a new Post 10 video this evening & even happier to see you welded your rake. Good tools become reliable friends and you just don't want to part with them. The Wal mart rake probably would have fallen apart on the ride up to the beaver dam.

I have a funny feeling that beavers know when a storm system is coming. They're building these dams just before a major weather event comes along. They must have an internal barometer in their heads. They're some strong little buggers too! Just watching you struggle to dismantle their dam tells me they are masters at their game. BTW, good going on repairing your rake. There is no sense throwing anything away if it can be recycled into something better than before. Congrats on a great job. Well done bro! 👏🏻

They know. I look at the size of squirrels in the yard starting in Sept. I cringe if they get too heavy. Squirrels know about winter temps ahead of time. One year, they'd been five pounds, estimated by a hunter (who hadn't gotten them), and their feet had barely touched the ground. That winter, Embarrass and Eveleth, MN, temps had dropped to fifty degrees below zero, no windchill. (Mpls had been far below zero, too.) Look at the animals, as ppl had done a hundred years ago. Animals have a lot to "say" to ppl who know what they're "saying". Used to check the thickness of my Beagle's undercoat each Sept, too. Shandy's fur had always matched the coming cold of winter. Fun fact: tree leaves flatten, turn bowl-shaped when the barometer falls, and Mackerel clouds, aka change-of-weather clouds, tell when the weather will change. If it's sunny, and a Mackerel clouds drifts by, rain is coming. - Things learned from gmpa, who'd worked for Northern Pacific rr, and had fixed things "102%", until they cold be fixed no more. Miss you, gmpa Northrop. :-)

Damn man, I was worried for ya. I have never seen anyone do this sort of thing so I’m probably just ignorant, but that looks really dangerous for you, being in that tunnel with a huge ass dam of debris with such strong waters rushing towards you. I had to keep telling myself that you probably know what you’re doing, but I was still scared for ya. You’re a brave dude.
@xXStumC0W96Xx3 жыл бұрын
It is VERY dangerous. Part of my job maintaining railroads in Canada includes clearing culverts of beaver dams, some large enough to require TNT. At any moment that dam can break releasing thousands of gallons of water rushing through the culvert. Not a very good idea what he’s doing.
