Wow! You did an incredibly awesome job on this. I am sure this took quite a bit of time with all the added after market photo etch and decals. Outstanding Raptor!

Beautiful buildup. You always do a great job of showing and describing what you’ve done. I’ve learned a TON of helpful hints from this and your other builds. None the least of which was not to be afraid to just try something new. Invariably, regardless of how it turns out, you have pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. Thanks for that! BTW, I’m a fellow San Diegan. I hope to see some of your stuff in person at the Model Swap Meet and contest at Gillespie Field on June 9!

Great work. You probably could of used small weights they use in model railroads to add weight to rail cars.

Just going through some plastic modeling videos for reference for some card models I want to scratchbuild and found yours of the Raptor- I moved from plastic to paper some years back. You showed a lot of interior angles I've never seen before of this subject- thanks for that! One detail difference you seem to have missed between the CGI and fullsize prop is the three greeblies on the leading edges of the wings next to the air intakes. They are there on the port wing but not the starboard wing on the fullsize prop but are on both wings on the model. Sorry if I killed the model for you by pointing this out, but I'd have had to remove them and the partial panel above, then fabricate a new panel to cover the space. DON'T DO IT TO YOUR MODEL! We'll call it a compromise between the two versions, okay?

I appreciate the comment and your attention to detail. No worries. I think overall the model is still a good facsimile of the ship regardless. It's interesting to note the differences between the CGI and full sized mock up. Thanks for watching.

What is the name of the store you bought the plastic disk used for the display?
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 2 жыл бұрын
It was called ridout at the time, it’s eplastics now. Bear in mind those discs were in a bin full of extra piece’s they were just trying to move. Here’s their website. If you’re in San Diego they’re located in Kearny Mesa south of Mira Mar / Kearny Villa Rd www.eplastics.com/

The details that you referred too on the nose were MANEUVERING THRUSTERS.
@Crais000

How much weight did you add to the nose and where did you put it? Moebius says it’s necessary to do so. Beautiful job
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 6 жыл бұрын
HI Steven, thank you for your compliment. I took some Apoxie sculpt putty and filled in the front nose section. That was enough to provide the necessary weight. You'll be able to get an idea of what it looked like at 18 sec into the video. I stuffed it into both sides of the nose. Without the weight, the back will be too heavy and it won't sit right. Thx for watching.
