100% Agree! Fix what you have vs. buying new. Saves money in the long run and you learn things.

I love this. I'm fully restoring my 2011 F150 FX4. They've brainwashed us to be a throwaway society for too long… It's better to take care of our things and restore them

I also have a single cab, long bed in the same year and color. My dad bought it when I was 7yo and taught me how to drive in it, and gifted it to me when I graduated high school! Thinking of selling my 2012 F350 to restore my old beauty instead! Love your video, good luck!

I think it's great that you guys are trying to do your own repairs. There are so many younger well and some older people that have no clue how to fix literally anything and are dependant on someone else to do it for them. Also, what a great feeling when you make a repair yourself then stand back and say I did that, not to mention the money that can be saved

Absolutely love your intention behind it. For me every month is FixitMonth. Even if I wouldn't call your project a complete restoration I am looking forward to the upcoming content. And for a first car project shurely there will be challenges for you, and that always brings you further.

I bought a 1994 ford f150 flareside for my son so we can work on it together. I took the bed off so we could replace both fuel pumps, lol that turned into us sandblasting and repainting frame, new fuel tanks, all new suspension, frame shackles, lines, shocks, rear end service, we have been having a great time workin on it and my son is learning a ton of stuff.

I got a 1994 Ford F150 XLT Extended cab 2WD 5.0 302. Mine is dark blue, I call it Monster. It's definitely been a monster. Mine still runs rich, it'd be nice to take the motor out and have it torn down and rebuilt.

@@Woodbrew That certainly makes it a different #FixitFeb task! :-) You plan to sling the bed off with your tractor? IF not, a simple pulley/rope system in your garage has worked fine over the ages, and it stores it for you out of the way...in the ceiling. Puts your bed to bed, so to speak ;-)

Once you have the springs and shock/struts changed out, don’t forget to take it to get signed. And tell them you want a 4 wheel alignment. Not sure if it is on you list, good time to change front rotors, and rear drums.

Not a Ford man but that truck is in great condition for being almost 30 years old. I am still driving my 15 year old Dodge Ram. I have no plans to spend $50,000 plus on a new truck. I fix everything around our house as long as it is in my skill set to do so. Looking forward to your videos!
@Woodbrew

Yup, that’s the main reason we are fixing this one. Cars, especially trucks, are outrageous and we don’t neeeed a brand new truck and are looking forward to fixing and learning about this one!

You are fortunate in that trucks of that era could be repaired & refurbished by owners. Today’s vehicles have throw away parts, costly computers and partially disassembled in order to reach what needs fixing. Hang on to that baby! Wish I still have my 1984 S-10 pickup.

Good video, and good luck with the truck. I have a suggestion. When you moved I saw that you seem to have adopted Total Boat, and all those cups on the floor enforces that. I have used it on my counterpart projects, and have found it is a bit different from other finishes. Have you thought about producing a a video on finishing with Total Boat, like their primer sealer and Halcyon, etc.?
@Woodbrew
@Woodbrew 2 жыл бұрын
For the past couple years, almost all of our furniture projects are finished with Halcyon! We did a coffee table and used Lust and it's amazing! Our surfboard is also using Total Boat and their penetrating epoxy.

Hi, you two, I used to fix TV’s for a living, but time goes on and TV technicians now just plug in board, find what is the problem, and fix it by leaving the last board they tried into TV and through the old card out. When I was fixing TV’s I used a multi-meter to identify components on the board and then replace the item that was faulty a thing these “new” technicians cannot do

The truth of the matter is that newer stuff ( the last 15 or 20 years) is complete junk and will not last nearly as long as restoring and or taking care of some of the older products. Doesn't matter whether it's a washing machine or a car or a alarm clock. Newer products are disposable junk. It is well worth the time to learn how to preserve or restore your older vehicle or just about anything.
