Man, its so great how close he gets to the story through the music, its a fine example at how music is a great tool for storytelling that allot of people dont seem to get, music is a tool to express, to tell, to release emotions... music can be a portal to the soul or a punch in the throat of emotions

Oh May I Stand Unshaken is good, but you have no idea just what you are getting into. That's the Way It Is, The Wheel, Red Dead Redemption, Do Not Seek Absolution, and especially Blood Feuds Ancient and Modern and the masterpiece American Venom. You are getting into one of the most legendary soundtracks of all time. Woody Jackson is excellent and if you think the tracks are good outside the game, you should see them in context.

Thank you for having chosen my music suggestion. Once again you've successfully managed to grasp the meaning of the song and what it tries to tell about the story, granted there are lyrics but still impressive. The reason the song is mixing differents genres is because the singer D'Angelo usually makes african american music, and a large part of the game map is inspired by southern states like Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama that have an important proportion of black citizens. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of my favorite games by far, it is a masterpiece of story, graphics and atmosphere and has one of the best protagonist in video games, if not the best. It came out in 2018 but is still more impressive than any game released since in my opinion. I don't know if it has an equivalent in english, but in french we'd call it a "western crépusculaire" (twilit or crepuscular western) because of its themes about the end of an era, redemption and also its melancholy. It's a massive game but not a waste of time at all, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet. And to return to the subject of music, it also has a very good soundtrack too.

Pain is a perfect thing to take from this song. The game itself depicts a gang of outlaws- a family, slowly being torn apart.

I've wanted you to do this one since I first saw your channel. Thank you for doing it. Red Dead Redemption (both 1 and 2) have excellent sound tracks. I especially love the evolution of RDR1's "Main Menu theme" + "The Shootist" (John Marston's theme) into "American Venom" in RDR2. If you're looking for something somber in the same vein as "May I Stand Unshaken" from RDR1, I'd recommend "Far Away" by Jose Gonzales.

The Lyrics talk about Arthur Morgan and the life he's led. It's the solemn reflection of a dying man on his past mistakes. Dutch is slowly losing his sanity over the course of the story revealing who he truly has always been. A charismatic wolf who led vulnerable sheep into false promises that he couldn't keep. Arthur realized this truth too late and watched as his entire gang fell apart because of Dutch's actions.

Really hope you listen to other tracks from this game, “That’s the way it is” is my favorite but tbh it doesn’t hit as hard as it does in the game if you haven’t experienced the whole story leading up to the song

Man this song is a brutal trip. There is a shorter version that hits the hardest that you can hear if you complete the game 100%. That's "May I Stand Unshaken - High Honor Version".

@@masterwolfofthesea4817tbh he actually understand the idea of the game really well without even playing it. Especially since the song was specifically played at the point Arthur was at his lowest since he returned from Guarma riding on horseback to reunite with the gang since the robbery in Saint Denis went terribly wrong and Arthur, Dutch, Micah, Javier, and Bill had to abandon everything and take a boat to Guarma. The song conveys of how Arthur’s day of being an outlaw has been numbered.
