How much do you bench? This question is about as annoying to any veteran, noticeably well-trained lifter as asking if creatine is a steroid. Consequently, heavy compound movements like the barbell bench press and incline presses are and have been the bread and butter exercises of greats such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler to name a few. Point being that the barbell bench presses have earned their right to be in the forefront of novice lifters minds and should be a staple in most chest training routines where strength and size are priority.
Here Johnnie "beats the dead horse" reiterating the importance of compound movements and how he uses them more frequently in his chest training nowadays.
Johnnie Jackson's Full Chest workout:
Warm up sets:
Flat barbell bench press: bar alone 1 set x 15 reps, 135 x 15 reps, 225 x 10 reps
Working sets: 315 x 10 reps, 405 x 2 reps, 315 x 8 reps
Incline barbell press: 135 x 10 reps, 225 x 10 reps, 315 x 8 reps
Flat dumbbell press: 100 x 10 reps, 120 x 10 reps, 170 x 5 reps, 150 x 10 reps
Prime machine fly: 4 sets x 15 reps
Stay tuned for more REAL and Raw Training form Johnnie Jackson, Guy Cisternino and Branch Warren and the HUGE Iron World Tour 4 city trek in China!

Great video....people dont understand when working out alone just picking up then walking and setting up with big dumbells robs you of energy which translates to loss of a rep or two or three easy....that's when having a workout partner would be nice....I go up to the top then do every dumbbell set down by myself....I call it everyone gets a ride...it fucking awesome just hate my gym only goes to 120s

I feel that he does like only half range of the movement and quite fast as well. I heard that slower and controlled movements are much more effective. But the guy any way looks nice and big. No comments about it.

One can't always bench heavy. The body likes to keep the weight at a certain value. Beside, not always benching heavy is a good thing just like not going heavy on every other exercise. Moderate weight is key.

Just curious. For years I have seen guys wearing wrist bands, but never thought to question it. However, at forty, my wrist have been getting sore. Are the wrist band to assist with sore wrist, or sore prevention? If so, based you you guys experience, do they really work? Besides they, great work out.

Johnny be careful dude, remember what happened to Ronnie, after a certain age it just ain't worth it to go so heavy all the time, you can save your joints but going lighter with much higher reps (up to 300 reps), everybody knows you're strong af, there's no need to prove anything
@MaxBadstibner

Your intentions are well-meaning, but Johnnie is not Ronnie. Ronnie has had back problems for pretty much his entire lifting career, whereas I don’t believe that Johnnie has. He’s certainly not going to change the way he trains. He’s been doing this for decades.

Open your ears. He said it was his first time doing flat bench in a while because his partner sticks to incline and dumbbells. He's just getting back into it and the muscles need to remember the movement. give it 6 months and watch where he is.
