@@EyeInfluence Thanks! I never had issues with strain until I started wearing contacts?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
Same thing happens to me. The reason is that your glasses have what’s called an Optical Center and your eyes are actually drawn towards it. Your eye muscles got dependent on it and since contacts don’t provide that, your eyes have to work harder. You look like a young guy, if you’re just starting with contacts then you should be fine after a few months. I personally still get that strain feeling when working on computers for hours with contacts. That’s why I prefer glasses while on the computer. Hope that info helps. Thanks for the support.

Most computer glasses will have a slight tint to the lens. In general, the higher the BPF and the higher the targeted range is (i.e. 440-500nm) the more color there will be.

@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
There are 2 things to consider when it comes to filtering blue light. 1, what part of the blue light range (light spectrum) is being targeted, and 2, what percent of that targeted range is being filtered. The higher up you go in the range, let's say 430-500, the more visible that color is and so if you filter it at 80% it's going to translate into a lens with a noticeable amber color. So in short, the reason why one has more color that the other is because one lens is filtering a higher range blue light at a higher percentage. Hope that helps.

@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
If you haven't had an eye exam in a while then I would suggest starting with that. If you have 20/20 vision then you can order them online without any power from the company of your choice. The glasses will not help to maintain your vision, it can only help to reduce sleep interruption, glare and some other symptoms of digital eye strain.

Hey Eye Influence, I have a question. But let me tell a little story. I have been experiencing eye fatigue and eye strain for some time now. I thought it may be just that I have dry eyes, so I bought some eye drops to heal my eyes for a while. Well it worked for a while, but then I experienced those symptoms again. It even lead to some extreme eye strain that I could feel the "nerves" being quite in pain (I played video games longer than usual). So I took some break from any digital screens for a week and the nerves were rested and healed. Right now, when I look at digital screens, I just have the feeling of dried eyes (even though I drink a lot) and eye strain. I myself wear prescribed glasses for everyday use with 0.75 power on the left and 1 power on the right. I don't use them, when I'm looking up close at digital screens. Lately I have discovered your channel and something about Gunnar glasses. So my question is, if I buy pair of Gunnar glasses, do you think they will effectively reduce the symptoms? And as I said, that I don't wear glasses, when looking up close at any screen, do I need prescribed power as my normal glasses, or is the 0.25 power enough just for close distance? Thank you for taking your time.
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
They can definatly help but it sounds like the main issue is over straining your eyes. Before investing in glasses I would suggest implementing breaks more often. Every 15-20 minutes you should look away from your screen and rest them by taking long blinks and looking at something more than 20 feet away. This will "restart" and refresh your eyes. After that you should look into Gunnar or Felix Gray glasses. They each have magnification but Felix Gray gives you the choice. I like to suggest Felix Gray because you can always switch the magnification version out for the non-magnified version. In regards to your dry eyes, you should look into taking supplements with Omega-3 Fish oil. It's been proven to reduce the evaporation rate from the moisture on your cornea. Here's a link to an article I wrote on this topic. www.eyeinfluence.org/single-post/foods-for-healthy-eyes I hope this helps.

@@officialveata I would start with one set that has no magnification. Lenses with power should be saved as a last resort when Digital Eye Strain is out of hand and you don't see a rest coming anytime soon. Taking frequent breaks will serve you better than lenses with power.

What is the difference between blue light glassess and UVA/UVB protection glassess. I read some glassess has UVA/UVB protection but not blue light. How come?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
UVA/UVB is non visible portion of the light spectrum. Most of UVB is blocked by our atmosphere. The vast majority of non prescription glasses on the market will have lenses that protect against UVA/UVB. Blue light blocking glasses target a higher range of the light spectrum. I would start by seeing an eye doctor and having a complete eye exam. If your at 20/20 then a set of low power (+.25) computer glasses can help with the muscle fatigue. Your eyes sound like they are getting dry so perhaps some over the counter artificial tears can work. These are just suggestions. Talk to your eye doctor about a long term solution.

@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
You can certainly have one for both but there are 2 ways you can go about it. First, you can have multifocals like a progressive made where the top of the lens is used for computer and the bottom for reading. Secondly, you could ask your eye doctor to see if there is a single vision prescription that would allow for computer and reading. This second option would mean you have to sacrifice a little clarity in either the reading or computer distance. Either way I would suggest talking to your eye doctor about your prescription and they can write something for you. Hope this helps.

Hi sir. Will i be able to wear computer glasses throughout the day even when im not infront of a screen? Will it affect normal eyesight? As you stated there is that slight magnification, will it affect driving?
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
I would recommend only wearing them while on the computer and taking them off for everything else. Some people can walk around with the slight magnification but I didn't enjoy it.

Informative but repetitious. One question though, with the magnification and of centre adjustment for with the computer glasses, are they safe to wear when not using a computer, e.g. when walking down the street, where you'll have to focus on further away?

Thank you for the feedback. I agree that the video is too long. You’re not the first to mention that about this video. I’m going to keep new videos shorter. Regarding your question, I wouldn’t wear the glasses for anything but for computer use. I noticed the negative effect it had on my eyes when I wore the Gunnar glasses outside. Thank you again for the feedback. Appreciate you taking the time to reach out. Have a great day.

Thanks for a very informative video! I'm one happy, new subscriber. I hope you could help me with one question though. What does "anti-radiation" glasses do? I often see this description when looking for computer glasses. Are they closer to blue light filtering ones or to computer glasses? Thanks a lot in advance!
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
It’s probably some companies way of making their lenses seem more “fancy” but in the end there is no difference. They’re are no consumer level radiation glasses. I’d stick to the blue light blockers Georgina.

What about Eyezen vs Crizal Prevencia! I have an option to get eyezen +, or Crizal Prevencia. Which is better?!
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
It can be a little confusing but they filter blue light a little differently. Eyezen is actually a lens technology first and a blue light filter second. By this I mean it was designed mostly to reduce eye strain from looking down at smartphones and tables. The lens has a little boost of power to allow the wearer to focus easier. It also has a low level blue light filter (just 20% blue light filtration). On the other hand, Prevencia is a coating which reflects off blue light. It's also a low level (around 20% too). You can actually get both Eyezen and Prevencia together on one lens. I hope this helps. (p.s. the company that makes Eyezen also makes Crizal. The company is called Essilor and they are the worlds largest lens mauf.)

I wear reading glasses since I’m having that vision problem after 40. Didn’t pay no mind about blue light or computer glasses until I found this pair of glasses from Corinne McCormack on clearance in an Outlet store. They are reading glasses and blue light blocking. I work in a pharmacy so I spend a lot of time on a computer and at night on my tablet. Are these ok to wear? Should I wear them all day or just at night? Should I spend the money on a more reputable glasses? Hope you have an answers for me .😃
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
I'm not very familiar with those reading glasses but in regards to wearing them all day for work you should be fine. I always encourage taking breaks though so even if you purchase higher cost eyewear there is never a replacement for rest.

Hi, so if other brands don't do magnification, how do they minimize or avoid eye strain ?
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. Here are some thing non magnified glasses can help with. 1) filtering blue light 2) reducing light intensity from your device 3) can improve contrast (amber lenses) 4) limits air from hitting your eye which can reduce dry eyes Those are just a few things they can do even without magnification. I hope this helps. That’s a question I may just need to make a video on. Thanks for the idea. :)

I use my PC late night. Which glasses should I use??
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
If you just want to block blue light at night then you don’t really need glasses. Night mode on your phone or f.lux software can do the trick. If you want the convenience of taking glasses off and on then just about any set of blue blocking glasses will work. I like Felix Gray because of their frame styles and quality. Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for video. I use my laptop for work. I was thinking about getting a 27in monitor to work on. Specfically the BenQ which are supposed to have low blue light. After watching your video I'm not sure if I should just get computer glasses for eye strain or if I should do both, get glasses and a monitor. Any thoughts? Thanks!
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
If a monitor filters blue light then the result will be a less than accurate color balance. I would stick to a standard quality monitor of your choice and install a filter like f.lux

@nicolehliziyo25735 жыл бұрын
what are the side effects of prolonged use of computer glasses?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
#1 side effect... dependence. Your vision won't get worse but you will find yourself feeling dependent on them like people depend on coffee. I made a video on this. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKPLi3-jjqt_qK8

Would getting the magnified lenses have negative long term effects for someone who doesn’t need prescription glasses? I work a lot on computers and was looking to buy just non-magnified Felix Gray lenses. Should I go with the magnified instead?
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
Great question. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they would have negative effects but they will have some effect on your vision moving forward. Think about it like this, coffee helps us to wake up right? The long term solution would be to get more rest instead of using coffee to compensate for our lack of sleep. Same goes for the glasses. They help to compensate for our overuse of our near vision. Resting and taking breaks is the real solution to eye fatigue but you can use the glasses to help. Thing is, once you get accustomed to it, you’ll notice the difference without. I prefer the non prescription version and take more breaks. Hope this helps.
@zimbaga956 жыл бұрын
@@EyeInfluence Thank you so much! Awesome comparison from coffee to sleep. I think I will stick with the non-prescription version because I don't want my eyes to become dependent on them as I have become dependent on coffee to get me through the day. Appreciate the efforts you've put into making these videos. I've learned so much from them. Thanks again Oliver!

Which glasses would you advise for wearing at night? In the last couple hours before going to bed to help with sleep?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
Pixel and Felix Gray make for great night time glasses because the lenses are virtually colorless and they also have a good AR coating. I just started wearing the Felix Gray sleep glasses and they are working good. I have to give them a few more weeks to provide better feedback.
@IAmGabe7775 жыл бұрын
Eye Influence eager to see your review about them. Without the color how would you be able to test if they were blocking BlueLight? And would these be better then the elite glasses by spektrum glasses?

Hello, I went to the optometrist recently and I (again) seem to have retained my 20/20. Although I still have perfect vision, I feel my vision, sleep, and day to day life is lackluster. I’m starting to suspect it’s my increase in screen time due to being in the studio a lot. If You were to recommend computer glasses with the blue filtering, which brand or what glasses would you recommend specifically? Thanks :-)
@EyeInfluence6 жыл бұрын
By studio do you mean music studio? The reason I ask is because many music studios tend to be poorly lit with little natural air flow (to reduce noise). In any case, I like Felix Gray and Pixel because their lenses are virtually colorless and they filter at least 50% of blue light. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the valuable information, One of the questions which confuse me is what's the difference between reading glasses and computer glasses? I am in front of a computer mostly 8-10 hours of the day, I don't really feel my eyes tired but have a headache after a few hours. Which type of glasses should I prefer blue light, computer or reading glasses?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
The biggest difference is going to be that reading glasses are generally for people over the age of 40 that have Age Related Nearsightedness, or Presbyopia. Computer glasses are for people of all ages that want to reduce eye fatigue. It sounds to me like you need to take a few more breaks. I made a video where I talk about the need for breaks and rest before developing a dependency on glasses. You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqfTe5eIad6Zb8U You see, glasses will only do so much. Most people that get headaches are usually not taking regular breaks and so their eye muscles are fatigued and strained. I hope the link to the video helps. Thanks for reaching out.

I spend so much time on computer which gives me headaches all the time.. What type should I get please?
@EyeInfluence5 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, I wouldn't start by getting computer glasses. First I would get an eye exam. If the doctor tells you that you're at 20/20 then you may just be over straining your eyes and you need to take screen breaks. Computer glasses should be used after the first two steps have been taken. When you get a set of computer glasses I would suggest going with a low BPF lens and no magnification. Pixel, spektrum and Felix Gray are all great options. Hope this helps.
