rooted nooks are incredible. i still use my nook simple touch from 2012 as my primary ereader. if you manager your own local epub library instead of using a centralized store/platform like amazon kindle, rooted nooks are incredibly usable and versatile. it is worth noting, if you plan to use a nook w/ barne and noble's store, anything from before 2013 loses support after June of this year. But if you're buying ebooks you can just get them directly from the publisher or author for the same price (or often cheaper), so i see little reason to buy into a single platform w/ DRM.

But, It's really good bang for your buck and ive been using one for like 6 years with no issues! If you want something to listen to music, use as a watch and track runs, I use a iPod Nano 6th gen, they are worth like nothing where I am and I'm sure on the secondhand market they are very easy to find! Moondrop's Space Travel definitely tops the cheap TWS market where I'm from. It has ANC and great sound for only $20. I would also suggest getting yourself a very cheap 2-in-1 laptop and outsourcing everything to a home pc through a remote desktop app or simply having a pc and your phone who connects to it remotely. The only drawbacks of this is the poor internet connection problem when it comes to classrooms buried deep within the building or schools located in bustling cities. I would also suggest getting yourself an ESP32 to leech off single connection wifi and spread them for your other devices or friends. As it is also a general purpose microcontroller, you can upgrade it however you want such as making it a power bank, storage device, sim carrier loader as its own wifi and anything you can think of.

For a cheap digital watch I can recommend Casio W-800h, it is not a smartwatch and if you don't need that functionality, it is a great pick. It has more functions than F91W and slightly more rugged, but still a light watch at ~35g. It is cheap I bought mine for 30$ and have been using it for almost 3 years now.

I use a ThinkPad X1 Carbon with my i7 8565U processor, and I haven't had any problems throughout my career in Chile (the career I study would be equivalent to computer engineering). Truth be told, I also used Linux, and I still do for programming, but through WSL 2, because issues like compatibility problems such as not being able to screen share using Wayland (it's possible but still not very stable) and also wanting to use programs that can't be used on Linux, prompted the switch. In conclusion, I have tried the things you recommend, and for anyone who is doubtful, both the computer and operating system work very well, as does the operating system of the phone, which I also use (I have a Pixel 5). I'm a big fan of your videos and really enjoy them. Greetings!

if you want to stay in windows (some things do suck in linux) then definitely install WSL. i like running WSL docker containers for my environments, and with VS Code i can use dev containers to debug inside the container. its a really useful tool for a lot of reasons. no more messing around with broken python environments, no more having to install c/c++ libraries in windows. plus if you're docker pilled you can share the build file with people you're working with and they should replicate it no problem. linux is great, and i do use it server side or when im deploying code, but i dev in windows or mac os.

IMO, the best watch is a dumb one that you don't need to care about and charge every day. And the best watch you can get that achieves that goal is a Casio Illuminator. $20, so it completes the $300 budget, will run for 10 years, you can tell it to beep every hour which personally really helps with keeping track of time, you can set it to military time which is neat, and you can set an alarm on it which I use alongside my phone's alarm to be extra annoying and get me out of bed. I'd recommend to get the F105 which is the lightest of the Illuminator line-up, and specifically the Illuminators because they actually illuminate the whole watch face, like a LCD backlight, whereas the regular watches' light is a super dim bulb that really sucks, kinda like those old clip-on Game Boy lights. But yeah, I have a Casio watch that I wear around all the time, found it in a bin so I don't really care what happens to it, it's served me very well and will probably keep working for the next few decades as long as I can replace the batteries.

I'm not in college but I'm studying IT certifications and a big thing for me has just been to use a thinkpad T420 with 16 gigs of ram and a 1tb SSD. All in all the whole setup cost less than 200 bucks and its pretty snappy, even the 2nd gen core i5 on this thing works really well and better than you'd expect, with 0 dropped frames switching between 1080p60 video playback on one workspace and another. Only thing I REALLY need to do is replace the thermal paste, because its sitting pretty at 40-70 degrees for normal use, but its consistently reaching 95c when I compile something..

I use a thinkpad x270 for work. I was 1/3 of the price of a new notebook, and It works wonders until today. The screen is kind of dying now, I will have to change it, but they are easy to replace compared to other notebooks. The Only thing I wish I have is a little more resollution 720p is kind of bad for web design, but thats easily solved by connecting to an external monitor. The other downsize is that the notebok is a potato for gaming, but I have an xbox for that.
