I genuinely believe as far as writing jokes go, Conan blows everyone else who has worked in modern late night out of the water. For some reason a lot of people don't find him likable, but you have to admit his jokes are better than most anyone else.
@ExtremeTG8 жыл бұрын
+Ryndan Riley what, he is one of the most beloved talk show host right now
@ryndanriley53488 жыл бұрын
ratings say otherwise... especially when he was on the tonight show. he doesn't test well with most demographics outside of younger people. for some reason Jay Leno tested better. weird, but true.
@ryndanriley53488 жыл бұрын
+LiGht YaGami I'm sorry, but that's just simply not true. I didn't ever say people hate him, I said people don't find him likable. that's why he doesn't get older viewers. he used to make a lot of jokes about it on the tonight show with how little kids are afraid of him and older people think he looks like a creep. those jokes came from responses to focus group testing. I'm sorry you don't want to believe it for some unapparent reason, but there's a reason his viewership declined so much. and comparing it to Justin bieber is called a fallacy of false analogy, and you should try not to use it in presenting arguments. since fans of pop music listen to whatever is publicized and talked about, but people make TV choices based on seemingly random preferences and whims. instead look for evidence to back up your claims. and evidence that's pertinent to the conversation, not critic reviews when we both already agree that he's the funniest and should therefore have the best reviews. my whole point was that people don't watch him as much because they don't find him likable. that's an easily Googleable fact. haha.
@ExtremeTG8 жыл бұрын
Ryndan Riley i completely understand ur point, but do u not think this was when he was the host of late night show rather than now. When he took over the late night, a lot of viewers disliked him, and after decade of being the host, he improved and just overall grew on people, still some people didnt like him (older people, middle age, etc), but he really became a fan favorite after what happen with him and jay leno, and now everyone who know conan at least see him in a positive light (some are dying hard fan, some thinks hes alright, but rarely see people disliking him or even hating him) unlike jimmy fallon for example
@ryndanriley53488 жыл бұрын
+ExtremeTG yeah I think so. the social commentary definitely changed when he got screwed by nbc. people still don't watch him as much as any other host though, which seems to point to those people still not being into him, for whatever reason. being on TBS can't fully explain it because other cable hosts still pull in more viewers. I haven't heard any focus group results since then though, so maybe it's changed. anything we can say outside of things like that is really just speculation.

Having Conan speak is the best decision Dr Jim Yong Kim (or any Dartmouth president for that matter) has ever made for that campus. Genius. 🧠

I return to this every now and then when I feel I have come to some crossroads and it always picks me up and inspires me. It’s a lovely combination of humor and advice for living well.

I've gone back to this video at least once a year since 2011. Incredibly motivating and timeless. Possibly the best commencement speech ever.

I listen to this speech at least once a year, and have for several years now. It may be the most perfect commencement address ever delivered. Hilarious and wise.

A brilliant speech. Conan weaves a story from beginning to end that is at times silly but so engaging that he gains ones listening ear. The arc of the speech then moves to his sharing how a personal wound mobilized him to fine new meaning and purpose to his life-his humor he shares in the face of this pain only humanizes him even more. One of the best speeches that I have ever heard and with wisdom critical for us all to embrace.

great speech 19:15 "How could this be true? Well, it's simple: There are few things more liberating in this life than having your worst fear realized."

The message brought a tear to my eye, for too long now I have been running fron fear and failure, but here today I say no more, we should face our fears head on and do our best at everything we can, by giving everyone undivided attention when they talk, by actually studying for there exams rather then half-assing it, by actually being proactive rather then being reactive, I believe that we can be better then we were yesterday!!! - ramblings of a stranger p.s to anyone who read this, I don't know who you are or anything about you, but do your best!!! remember someone believes that you can succeed even if its a random stranger on the internet! :)

I couldn't have a graduation ceremony because of 2011 Tohoku earthquake. It was canceled. Now it feels like I'm having one. Thanks, Conan.

I’m tired of ppl categorizing Conan as a comedian. He’s an entertainer and he’s so smart. He really thinks about life and questions purpose. He’s very intelligent and curious. So many things to admire about Conan
