The set decoration and costumes was authentic IMO. I've never been to the Vatican, but it did seem like it took you to it.

A very engaging. movie ,the acting being the best part . Idid find the ending a little ridiculous and totally unnecessary.....

The ending is very significant to female Catholics many of whom feel like second class citizens.

@@thewebdiva5903 The purpose of the movie is to give a convincing rendtionn of the inner workings of what may go on in a conclave, in other words how a candidate is chosen from the ranks of the cardinals . The conclave movie. tried for authenticity . But then the story took a detour in the end from being somewhat plausible to trying to satisfy the libral agenda with a. ridiculous premise. Candidates for the papal office do not just appear out of the blue, but become viable after years of scrutiny...Like any job applicant a proper candidate must demonstrate their ability to uphold the tachings of the church and how they will govern/serve her...

Loved it overall, hated the ending. Felt very contrived and a divergence from the integrity of the storyline.

It may have seemed as a nod to current events but I interpreted the ending as a female Catholic who has felt as a second class person in the patriarchy of the church. But all views are individual and valid.
