Scott, I used your bag trick the other day on my first ever pump job. Worked like a champ and I looked like I knew what I was doing lol. Thanks for taking the time to explain things so well. I’ve learned a lot from you and Jeff!

I have to give credit to the followers of the channel whom led me on to the plastic bag trick. This has become a great community in terms of sharing knowledge and experience amongst us concrete pumpers. 👊👊👊

That’s crazy you can’t pump back into the redimix truck. That would drive me crazy. I let the drivers wash their trucks in to my pump then I pump it back into their trucks. Those little compressors are GOLD! I have the Dewalt one. I have used mine to blow out 350’ 2” line. Not so good on the 3” line. They can blow out maybe 100’

@@mikeeemike988 They allow us to do so with the boom pumps, but I believe the issue with line-pumping back into the mixer stems from years ago when a guy hung a floppy old hose over the mixers hopper to pump back into the drum. Hose kinked and BLOOOSH!!!!! concrete everywhere… it just takes one 🙃

I have the dewalt one also but I can barely get 75 ft blew out. Only use it for small situations or for pushing back to the pump like Scott did in this video. I’m very surprised you can do 350’ of 2” line! Wow!

@@chriscalhoun.concretepumping you have to use a plastic bag over the ball. It’s a HUGE difference. Let the compressor fill up to max volume then open valve. I blow back into the truck but I have a clean out hook and strap it down. You waste a ball but on a ZERO mess job it is worth it.

@@newrealm9187 So the issue I’ve had with that before is that the sugar/retarder actually segregated the mud on me as it significantly loosens up the material upon contact. These 1/2” crushed stone mixes can be less than forgiving when we’re putting them through 2” line.

I refuse to haul more than 1/4 hopper full. I broke my torsion axle couple years ago and had to drive 13 hours one way to get the only one I could find at the time. They charged me $2000 for the axle which was way more than it should’ve been but I had to have it. So I just won’t do it. Also I refuse to pump back into trucks. Did it once before and the driver was on his phone with my guy up top and he started driving off forgetting my guy was there. Hose kinks and popped out knocking him off the truck. Never again!
