This episode of The Brain Warrior's Way Podcast features information, tips, and how to's on caregiving and disabilities.
Traumatic Brain Injury: Could You Have One and Not have Known It?
Many of the patients Dr. Amen sees at his clinic have a recurrence of dark, often suicidal thoughts, and they often attribute these thoughts to their own messed up way of thinking. But what if these thoughts are the result of a physical problem, or more specifically, a head injury? In the first episode of a series about hidden brain injuries, Dr. Amen and Tana reveal the surprising connection between bad thoughts and traumatic brain injuries.
Concussions/TBI: What Happens in the Brain?
New research shows us the surprising impact a concussion can have on your brain and your life. In this episode of The Brain Warrior’s Way Podcast, Dr. Daniel Amen and Tana Amen continue their discussion on hidden brain injuries by delving into the topic of concussions. Learn about the physical effects that take place after even a minor concussion, and how it can affect your daily life.y.
So You’ve Had a Head Injury, What Can You Do?
Head injuries are the hidden causes of a multitude of psychiatric disorders. Whether you suffer from depression, anxiety, or even poor decision-making, it’s often an undiagnosed brain injury at the root of the problem. However, as Dr. Amen says, you CAN make your brain better. In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Amen and Tana discuss the first steps towards getting your brain back to a healing environment.
How To Heal from a Head Injury / TBI
In the fourth and final episode in a series about hidden brain injuries, Dr. Daniel Amen and Tana Amen give you a step-by-step process to counter the negative effects that come with suffering a brain injury. Armed with Dr. Amen’s simple pneumonic, you’ll have all the tools you need to avoid suffering and start feeling (and behaving) better.

All couples should gift each other this Christmas the gift of a brain scan to insure their well being and increase the health of their relationship. Makes so much sense.

I have had several head injuries. From a very young age to present. My life has been hell. All I can do day in and day out is constantly think of all the damaging things I have done to myself and others. I've had two surgeries on my cervical spine. I still suffer from serious pain, fatigue , and absolute self destruction. This stuff is real that you are talking about. I've had suicide attempts. And I am soo tired of just talking about it. I have been told by psychiatrist that she believes I am smart and or intelligent. I just don't see it. I cant turn my brain off. Even at night I don't sleep. My sleep patterns are off. I don't sleep much at all. I m tired of talking about it all. I have made to many bad decisions and I am haunted constantly. Thank you for letting me get that out there. Scott / 60yrs old.

Wow! Thank you! I watched your "What I learned From..." videos a few years back, and was interested in the SPECT scans then. However, due to my current situation, this video has sparked so many questions and ideas about my boyfriend and I (he played hockey for years; I grew up in a difficult environment --there are more than a few struggles we both face, individually and as a couple). Due to my mental health issues and what are considered to be contributing factors of such, I've read up quite a bit on depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, childhood trauma, etc. I like to think I have a fairly good understanding of those things. But when it comes to actual physical head trauma, I know very very little. Obviously I am interested in my boyfriend, and I figured that educating myself on the long-term damage caused by concussions/head trauma would give be a better understanding of the difficulties he faces. Boy was I right! This is the only podcast I have watched of yours (or anyone elses), and I have already learned a pile of information! I'm looking forward to what else you two are going be teaching me, and how it will help with my relationship and the bettering of myself! So thanks again!

I just had a bad car accident. Speeding SUV ran red light and hit me. I had difficulty remembering my own address and "who is the president" and "what month is it". The Doctors keep telling me CT is clear, you'll be fine, give it time, this is normal. But I have trouble speaking (after winning awards in public speaking), and trouble thinking/remembering when those are things I have prided myself in. I became more emotional towards my husband and "divorce" was brought up for the first time ever. I don't even have the energy to shower and my sleep is messed up. Ive been out of work due to cognitive impairment and I will get only about $4500 for my car and not much anything else due to the person hitting me having extremely low amount of insurance.. My husband wants me to use the money for a new car to get back to work, but I really want to bet all that, all I have, toward treatment with the Amen Clinic. This podcast just gave me so much hope! And took away so much feelings of shame and guilt that it's not "all my fault". Thank you so much

I tried bringing up SPECT scanning to my doctors and nurses. They kind of laughed it off and would go on about CT scans. I would say just how yall would "but those only show structure, bone, bleeds, tumors. Those do NOT show brain function or activity..." i wish they could all watch your Ted Talk or this podcast! So many ppl are suffering when there is an answer at Amen Clinic! MY DAD COMMITTED SUICIDE!! This is a big deal to me. Ive had getting a SPECT scan on my wish list for YEARS and I'm hoping I could finally have that dream come true this year. I am so grateful for all u guys do for people.. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Everyone myself included when asked if you have ever had a brain injury we all answer no. I was hit by a OCTA Bus and I knew my head was hit but my pain in my neck and back and leg where so great that for the first year I didn't pay attention to it, primarily because I couldn't think, it's like my brain got stuck and even though my neurologist said I had a concussion he gave me no treatment. It wasn't until I was on the set filming Quiet Explosions that it dawned on me, I should get my brain scanned and I've been under treatment ever since. That being said, I ran out of supplements in February and then Covid hit, and I totally forgot about my supplements until I had a phone call that brought it to my attention. YIKES
