This build has been simplified by balance changes, the converge doesnt reset malice anymore, meaning the rotation only needs you to do the first part of the axe combo and then repeat. Mercy was also buffed making this way more easy. Remember to check the build page if you want the rotation listed out.

I've been seeing a lot of people in the forums saying Axe thief has been completely destroyed by the update but honestly the simplified rotation is stupid easy to maintain in chaotic fights. Was there a significant DPS loss?

Ooooh... Well. I have over 5000 hours on thief, and even I didn't notice that the stealth attack axe returning was reseting Malice again. That's a very neat mechanic but it's very obscure. Thanks for the clean explanation.

The venombite bladed weapons are all so nice. Focus, staff, scepter, guns, and shield are a bit wonky, but they nailed it on the blades weapons. Too bad there isn’t a venombite spear!

@@lastmmoplayerThere are recall mechanics not explained in this video, e.g. if you cast Harrowing Storm to recall right after throwing the Stealth axe, you won't recall the Stealth axe yet (which is useful to avoid resetting Malice like Vallun stresses). You can do this trivially easy by DISABLING autocast on skill 1 (unlike what Vallun shows), which will let you use Salvo to reset Malice just once (which Vallun is interested in). Further, if you spam Harrowing Wave to recall axes right after throwing Venomous Volley, those axes won't recall because they haven't stopped flying. Saying the video explains everything so much better than the SC Guide simply isn't true. This video would be better and more informative if it had all the information from the SC guide.

Honestly, I hate this weapon. Gimmicky mess that probably will be tuned down due to unrealistic golem benchmark. Wish they would just completely rework it.

build looks very nice (for the moment) - Vallun didn't mention it but when do you use the shortbow? how does the build fare when you don't want to be in melee range like Vallun mentioned near the start of the video?

you dont really want to be using the shortbow at all, but its there and if you really wanted scepter pistol might be a better second set

I've been doing the mark -> 2 -> 2 -> 3 -> 5 (or steal ability) -> 1 -> 2 -> 2 -> 2 -> 3 (repeat) but I find myself at times lacking the iniciative, it feels like I need to slow down a little bit to wait for the mark to come up for the steal ability stealth or I just need to press mercy and reset entirely, I'm not sure if that happens to you or if I'm messing the combo somewhere

Disable autocast on axe 1, then cast axe 3 right after casting Cunning Salvo. That will recall the first set of Venomous Volley axes, which will grant you Malice. Don't bother recalling before dagger 5 like Vallun does in this video, it's not better damage, it's just worse Initiative usage. 22(stealth)13223 is the loop.

i tried this rotation out as you explained, but it leaves me with full malice at the end requiring 2 stealths per axe combo instead of 1

@@VallunYou have to queue Harrowing Storm right after Cunning Salvo. If you disable autocast on salvo, that’s as easy as pushing < 1, 3 > at the same speed that we push < 2, 2 >. Then it doesn’t really matter how fast you do the rest of the loop < 2, 2, 3 > as you will have a salvo on the ground, hit max Malice from the 2nd Axe 3, then reset Malice with the axe 3 recall pulling in salvo.

How come the axe 3 resets the malice? :o I dont get the rotation yet.

it's explained in the video but the reset is from an axe sneak attack which the 3 skill can repeat

you mark your target with F1, then do the 223 combo, which gives you max malice, then you reset your malice with 51 combo, which also leaves that malicious axe on the ground, then you do a 2223 combo (the additional 2 grants you max malice again) and this time, the malice will be reset by the malicious axe getting reapplied from skill3. this enables you to use skill 3 twice with only one stealth, freeing up your elite skill slot.
