It's all constant punishment and cruel. Turning the entire country into a prison. Having company policies make almost all job searches so restricted and impossible to the point where they get so depressed they end it all. mary brennan I was too. My wife was an abuser I called the cops and turned her in. She said I threatened to call dhs about her getting high if she didn’t give me a bj. I was arrested for sexual extorting. Waited 9 months for trial and she finally confessed she was the abuser. Charges were dropped but the damage was done. I drank hard for 4 years and just quit. I wouldn’t apply for a job because they’d see what I was arrested for. I built a profitable plumbing company. Would love to meet a nice woman but scared to be alone with one without video. She’ll just have to deal with always being recorded. I pray for your son it’s gotta be one of the worst things being falsely accused

Living with the registry every day is a brand that reminds me daily that I am a pariah of society. I once was a counselor and am now nothing. I long to take the bottle of pills I set aside several years ago, but have things I must do first for my family. I would love to fight but am afraid. And that's coming from someone who was once a fearless advocate for his clients, family, friends. Now I feel helpless..broken..angry..lost.

I also know about Zach Anderson's story too. Entrapped into meeting up with an underage girl who lied about her age, and Zach ended up on the registry for 25 years, with a 5-year restrictionary probation period. Very restrictive rules on that probation. Banned from using a smartphone. Banned from using a computer. Banned from the Internet. And he has to observe an 8pm curfew and undesirable residency restrictions as well. Update: His sentence was overturned and he is off one of the state's sex offender registries. But he is still fighting to get rid of the other registry he is on.

I'm on the sex registry in GASTONIA NC. I was 500 miles away and 25 miles out at sea..,,The Gastonia police lured me back to Gastonia under the guise I witnessed a hit and run. I figured misunderstanding and I'll go see Mom and take care of it. Next day. 18 swat members with guns drawn. Threatening my mother first. Not me. I still had no idea. So I'm forced to sit wondering. TWO FBI agents enter asking where is the computer? Gastonia detective says, oh, we're bringing it in. FBI agent says from where? From his father's house. I did set up his internet. Whom I haven't seen in nearly 5 years. Both FBI agents were confused. One even stated he lives at neither of these addresses. FBI found two PARTIAL files and pissed off said, do what you want. My dad has no money. I do. My bond? 1.5 million. Everytime I plead innocent the D.A. told me I'll just give you more charges. Went from 2 to 28. That's not the end. I countered with We would like to see the computer. There answer? Would you also like to see the thumbnail we didn't mention that has 1,000 images of child porn? Not 898 or 675. No 1000! The DA continues Threatening more charges. The scumbag detective leans on my super hot girlfriend. Asking for sex to help the situation. They Crack my mother and girlfriend. I take the 18 months for their sanity. In three years father arrested twice for same thing and they still came to me for a payday. No worries. I'm incredibly vengeful. She'll never work again and I have his nuts in a vice. Sympathy to you all.

You would need to explain what aspects of the registry are threatening or blackmailing. Unfortunately, if a person on the registry is threatened, you would need to prove the threats were due to being on the registry. It would be a high hurdle to prove in a court of law.

For low risk registrants with family especially, I would suggest maybe California if you can spend $10,000 on a lawyer especially if you're a tier 1. I feel for the family members of a registrant that people would shoot at their house and recruit a dangerous individual on the children of the family etc.

He went to prison and had to take domestic violence classes. She divorced him and cheated on him with another guy from the Philippines and took rest of the house. I was shocked when I read that.

Your thought would be fabulous if the punishments of the guilty actually fit the crime. I know people are convinced of crimes they didn't do but far more sex crimes go unreported much less not prosecuted when they are reported. I hear someone crying about living with shame. How about the people that live with a totally different shame? The shame of someone assaulting them or stealing away their innocents. Those are people live with life long sentences.
