Teens take note: Graddad has memory loss, but he is a gentleman, worrying about details like closing drawers and straightening his bed. He doesn't shout to be understood, but asks questions instead. Good habits and good character learned young make you truely lovely when you start losing yourself. ❤ Go granddad. Thanks for being patient Dan. ❤

Bet you 'HUG" your Dad lots too huh Dan? I've yet to see this precious man get "HUGGED" even "ONCE"!! Not even by the woman in the house, who are known to be more "affectionate" !! But there's "NOTHING" coming from "her either! SO SAD!! It's a "FACT" that "physical" touch is So, So, important to elderly people! It's "just" a basic human need, And in this "family", there's absolutely "NO" affection given to Ed from this Family that tells EVERYBODY in the World how Much they "Love" Ed, but you'll "NEVER" witness it !!! What's that saying that "ACTION'S SPEAKS LOUDER THEN WORD'S"? Yes that's the one... If Dan sees my comment, he'll totally ignore it, because he's Not "capable" of showing affection to his Dad!! Most adult children will hug a parent, because they feel such "great love" and "respect" in their hearts, and it just comes "naturally"!! But Ed will NEVER receive THAT kind of love from his son's because they aren't capable of that kind of Love. We will just continue to "watch" those videos that just show what goes on when the cameras are "rolling"; not what goes on when the cameras are "OFF"!!! Literally Breaks My Heart for Ed. 💔💔💔🙏🏼😢

My grandfather lived until he was 82. He moved in with my parents and I moved back home to help them care for him in his last months. He was a joy to wake up to. So grateful and generous. We were extremely sad to loose him, but so very lucky to have had the pleasure of joining him at the end of his journey. We anticipated his end of life care to be a worrisome, difficult time, but he made it a pleasure. We laughed and smiled along with him until his last breath on my birthday. He was finally out of pain and with my grandmother, the love of his life. He always said I was his favourite and he gave me the best birthday present ever by giving in and finally resting ❤

It always amazes me that instead of loudly arguing when something doesn't make sense to him he eventually just accepts it because of the eternal trust he has in you. I suspect it's the same with Mark. Your family demonstrates loving communication despite very difficult circumstances. I just love watching your videos.

I've worked in nursing homes for almost 10 years and this is extremely rare! I was actually amazed by the way he acts when confused. Goes to show how wonderful he is and the bond they have. A lot of the patients I had would become extremely combative and aggressive when confused, and very rarely ever just accept that they are confused.

My dearest dad took to "hiding" things - example, my mum got a delivery and after searching everywhere do you know where I found it? - in my car under the passenger seat!!😂 my dad passed away 2.5 yrs ago and we have never been able to find numerous things - a hedge trimmer, a rake, a brush, a set of car keys, a necklace of mums - a precious display plate of mums was discovered weeks later - under the chair cushion on which she sits every day!!😂 😢😂

Grandpa is absolutely adorable! I esp; love it that Grandpa never forgets Joann, The love of his life and Mother of his 6 children...having to be reminded that they live in different homes and have been divorced over 44 years...that gets me every time. I lost my Father in 2002, @ just 67yrs old to Esophageal Cancer...he was one of the good ole boys that are rarely made these days, the most influential person of my life & made me the woman I am today....I also; took care of my father at his home for mos before he passed...our parents remained friends, however; they too had been divorced over 30yrs when Daddy passed...but like Grandpa Ed, he always remembered Momma and would ever perk up when she visited. Love is a never ending story...the greatest trait one can posses, a many splendid thing, Amen 🙏

Can we all just acknowledge how difficult that must be? For both the kids and their dad? I am starting to notice a shift in the parent/ child dynamic myself and while it's nice to be a hero and a stable place for my parents to lean on, it's bitter sweet. They're getting old and the natural order of things is not always pleasant.

I hope and pray that I have raised my kids with the same integrity that he has raised you. Danielle and you are the same ages as we are. I’ve not had direct experience with dementia. My mother died of illness when she was 60, both of my in-laws have both passed on, also from illness. My father is still alive and well, lives alone, and takes care of MOST everything still himself. I have 3 siblings, all girls, me being the oldest and I have encouraged them to subscribe and give to your channel. The awareness you’ve brought not only to your own community, but around the world is PRICELESS!

I really enjoy these updates too, they help me strive for the level of patience we see here every day. I caution you though, if you and your sisters become caregivers, DO NOT expect to be this good right away. It is a journey, a learning process. You will get frustrated and discouraged, it will come through sometimes, and THAT IS OK. We are all human dong the best we can.

So typical for a human with Dementia. Sad as it can be,in my experience ( looked after both my dad's parents and nursed for 24 years,all aspects, however Dementia care was were I was comfortable!!!! I am off work from 3rd brain surgery, thus I watch this constantly as I miss my patients more than anything...I'm heart broken 😢...however, watching your dad and all his interactions with everyone helps my sadness....he's top knotch father and I bet a wonderful doctor!!
