My mom is almost 91, she still drives, she's fiercely independent, lives alone. She still cooks, gardens, uses a wheelbarrow. She dresses to the 9s, dyes her own hair. She keeps up with the news and current events and affairs. She can discuss AI. This morning she wanted to know what a meme was, lol. She's pretty amazing. She's still a pretty woman too. I hope she makes it to 107. She has kidney disease and diabetes though. I hate to think about her no longer being here but also have to be realistic and that's sad.

My wife started with early onset dementia at age 55 passing at 62. We gave her keys that didn’t fit anything but she did stop looking for them. She said I should take her car to the mechanic because it wouldn’t start. So many things we had to improvise but we managed to keep her safe and in her own home until the end. Thanks for sharing your journey with your dad.🇺🇸🚒🐄

I just recently found your youtube channel. I am a retired RN, most of my career was working with those with dementia (skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and adult day care.) I just wanted to tell you how impressed I was with your family and the care your provide to your dad. It is a difficult situation, and everyone's journey with this disease is different. He seems very well cared for, and happy. You provide such vaulable information to other families who are on this journey. You have my 100% support in what you are doing.

Me too. Very impressive that his son is understanding and taking good care of his dad. I appreciate him. Many Americans have to see how children should take care of their aging parents. These parents sacrificed and did good jobs of caring for their children. In my culture, children are expected to take care of their aged parents unconditionally. This is the only way children can pay back. Not sending their parents to nursing home, forget their existence, and waiting for them to die. Thank you for sharing the videos. Many Americans and people from other cultures can learn from these videos.

My husband is 63 , he has the beginning stages of dementia/Alzheimer’s. He asks the same questions at least 10 times a day. He does out of the normal things all the time (daily). We just celebrated our 30 year anniversary last week. I can’t imagine my life without him. I’m learning patience. It’s definitely not easy because you don’t know what tomorrow brings. I don’t let him drive because he gets lost. We liv in the same town for 30+ years and he doesn’t remember how to get anywhere anymore. I’m glad to see your dad is so well taken care of. God Bless

My mother is 64, she’s healthy still working but retiring in the next two years. She called me last weekend saying how she was worried about being abandoned in her old age. Great-Grandchildren @ 60+ and 4). Great-Great-Grandchildren @ 80+ years old. That makes a 5 generation. I am happy for him. He is so blessed for having loving and caring children. Aww just found your channel….I’m a retired nurse who worked in an Alzheimer’s “rest home” we had patients that were in various stages…it’s good to see how you redirected your father when he was looking for his keys and getting agitated. I’m also glad to see you have him living with family. So often families don’t want to be bothered and put their loved ones in places like I worked and trust me they progress much faster than they would in being in a loving environment! I know sometimes it can be frustrating answering the same things over and over but you will never know how much you extended his life, providing a loving home and relationship!

I think of my dad every time I watch one of your videos. My grandma, my father and everyone of his eight brothers and sisters suffered from Alzheimer’s. My Aunt Donna is the only one left. My dad would have been 99 this year and I miss him so much. At 58, I’m also starting to show some short time memory loss which frightens me. My love to all of you and thank you for taking care of your dad and having patience. It’s tough. ❤️🙏🏻

I love your dad. You have a wonderful way of reassuring him that all is well. It was wonderful that you offered him a sandwich even though dinner was near. He seems to have a good appetite. You are an extremely kind and thoughtful man. All of you bring me joy even though I’m truly sorry that your dad has memory loss. My joy comes from the love and respect you all have for each other.

Poor grandpa he's so confused. I really feel so sorry for him. He thinks he's got something wrong with his head. He would be correct but it's not the way he thinks. He's very smart and he's always gonna be a doctor with all the knowledge that comes with it. Dan you and Mark are doing such a great job with your dad. I love how you can get him to calm down almost immediately. Grandpa I love you so much. You are the best father and best friend you're kids have ever had. Grandpa might forget a lot but he never ever forgets how to love his kids to the moon and back!!! 🥰🌹💕👍

Thank you for showing the reality of caring for elderly parent. You make this look much easier than it is Dan. Your vids have helped me alot. I use to feel exasperated because I didn’t understand that the mom who raised and cared for me was in a way slowly disappearing. Exasperated and alarmed when she continues to ask the same question I just answered less than 2 mins ago. Seeing how you cope with your dad has helped me realized that it’s normal and ok that sometimes I feel a bit shocked, overwhelmed and sad but to take time to realize what’s happening accept it and then I’m able to help my mom during these times. Thank you Dan and Danielle. Oh I’ve also learned to laugh a lot more about the absurdity of it all.😅

I love this message. People are so quick to criticize and give opinions on how it should be done. These are short videos. Imagine what this family goes through daily. We go through this with My mother in law who has advanced Alzheimer’s. It is not easy! God bless you Dan and to your wife.

God Bless Grandpa and your whole family, Dan. I live not too far from you guys in EG, and in 2019 helped my own mom take in my 89yr old grandfather with severe memory loss. It was incredibly emotionally draining on us, yet one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. We had the same routine and route as you do with your dad, same conversations about keys and checkbooks, and whose house is it, and how old am I, and where is my family who’d passed, grandpa thought I was his mom, etc. As my granddad’s memory loss progressed and he became less mobile (more prone to falls, etc), we gradually reduced his activity and basically anticipated all his needs so he didn’t put himself in harms way…snacks were delivered to his room, we hung out more in his space, etc. Like I said, it was rewarding, but excrutiatingly draining on us. But we were happy to do it. My grandad passed in 2021 at 92, and I now watch your family’s videos and they make me laugh and cry and smile. I watch hundreds of the same videos I made of my grandpa and the similarities are uncanny! As exhausting and draining as it all was, there are days were I just wish my grandpa was in his room again and we could listen to music and I’d read him books or his Bible, and then we’d head to Dos Coyotes and later walk around CVS to tire him out. You and your family will be greatly rewarded for your service to your father. Anyway….hello from EG!

Same here.. we called it the memory loss illness and that it didnt matter cos we were here and we loved him so we can look after you when you cant make head nor tail of nothing anymore.. sonetimes it worked and sometimes we had to stay awake in shifts of 3 days.. its perfect what you do, superb! But your dad is the same.. he dont buy everything you say 🤭👌💚
