Honestly I use alternating volume and intensity days, and rotating lifts, really without any complex thought applied to it…and the recovery and progression just from that is pretty incredible

Alex Leonidas and Andy Baker are also great resources for running conjugate as a raw lifter. The biggest thing Mark hits in the video is it’s fun. I’ve added over 100lbs to both my squat and deadlift and 75lbs to my bench in 2 years running conjugate. Because it’s fun I’ve actually been able to be consistent which was always my downfall. When you work full time, go to school, and are starting a family you need to look forward to training and that’s what it’s given me. I will definitely check out Mark’s channel now too

The bit about speed work successfully tricking guys into not destroying themselves is very interesting. Staying Consistent without every workout digging a hole is important. For real speed I still sprint swing and throw on a baseball diamond. I love the lifting and the sport skill both. This makes consistency a pleasure. I like Mark's mentioning of enjoyment. Great vid.

This is a good one. Got a lot of time for Mark. As a side note, it would be cool to see you and Alex do a other collab. It's been years and he's also big into a lot of your philosophies.

Yeah I messaged him a while back but I don't think he saw the DM

If you follow the standard Westside template and just really dumb down the max effort days to a mix of 4-5 variations of each lift you’ll get strong. Bands and chains encouraged but very optional. But if you’re not really pushing the accessory work you’re missing out.

Seems like 4 years ago when I started lifting everyone was obsessed with westside and half reps were all the craze. Now everyone is doing super slow full range of motion.
