Hey this was my question! I meant for max effort work mostly since, like you, i'd seen people doing it. But I accidentally pressed send before finishing the question. Anyway really appreciate the answer. Thanks!

I love drop down sets for accessory movements! Nothing blows up my upper back like seated rows where I pick a heavy weight for low reps and move my way down the stack doing burnouts.

Hi! What is your opinion on to do backdown sets if i am an only bench competitor? I do only 2 bench day ME, DE. I do my DE bench and after that, i move heavyer and do some volume bench, most of the time its weakness specific.(thats not a backdown) ME day i work up to a heavy 1RM floor press for example and after that i backdown to 70% of today 1RM and work back to 80% with 3 set of 3-5 rep in CAT style. Is it good or maybe i need to find another way to become better. I can add maybe 10-15kg/year with this. I start 2 years ago with 130kg bench and now im at 165kg comp pr with 88kg bodyweight. Thank for all opinion. And sorry for my bad english... Bless all! And thank you for all the information you share with us!!! 💪🏻😁🙏🏻🫡

Hello ,, i have a missunderstanding point and i want to ask please help! In another video about conjugate method you said that for the max efford day we have suplamental exercise working on 3-5 reps and they have the highest carry over to main movement but now you suggest not to doing them ? thanks you !

Billys Nik supplemental exercise is not the same as backing down. Supplemental exercise is your secondary movement after your primary movement. So doing supplemental exercise is picking an exercise that will target your weak point from the main movement so that overtime you can actually get better at that variation and thus will have a huge impact on your comp lifts

No scenario for back down sets...😳

A great one for backdowns after ME is if you want more volume from your main lifts, can even do the regular variation of SBD after the specialty variation. very low volume if not using backdown sets on ME, for main lifts (SQ / DL)... but if you go low volume there, more volume needs to come from accessories. That's where I prefer backdowns over more accessories because it's more specific and what I personally need

Shit I always do back of sets on max effort day.. Probably why I'm tired all the time

2-3 back down sets shouldn't kill you lol
@THEYDONTKNOWMESON111 Жыл бұрын
shouldn't, but it's still grueling to do any reps after a RPE 10,000 1RM haha, and then a bunch of accessories after@@TheStrengthClassroom

i have a ton of respect for dave but why the fuck are we talking about conjugate for novices? novices still benefit from linear progression. they don't need 600 different exercises thrown at them. they need 5 or 6 exercises and hammer them with high frequency and moderate volume until linear progress no longer works.

frodo the hobo he’s mentioned before they rotate less frequently. He’s also said he’s personally biased to concurrent and conjugate methods. Watch his other videos so you can better understand him and not point fingers.

You can stop progressing on lp well before reaching intermediate

not every novice wants to train in a boring way and conjugate is linear as well if you want it to be. 240 kg deadlift in 1 year from conjugate here
