When you connect the mixer to the computer, what connecting device do you use? And do you need any other special software on your computer, other than Audition, for the mixer?

This is exactly how I planned to use my blue yeti with a mixer. I still can't fully decide between the Yamaha and the Mackie. The blend and mute are great features of the mackie but the effects are on the yamaha are incomparably better (especially with the parameter adjustment knob). I do live streaming so the effects would be great, but not 100% necessary - just cool to have. Heard the phones jack on the Yamaha has a lot of static and heard more people have issues with noise on the Yamaha. I am stuck in a never-ending loop trying to make this decision haha!
@kettnercreative3 жыл бұрын
The big thing is just to make a decision and move forward. The thing I hate the most is big surprises, it sounds like you've done your research and shouldn't experience any surprises. In real world use, both mixers are super great and you really can't go wrong./

I was able to connect mine to my Behringer mixer as you described but there is a distinct drop in audio quality in comparison to the recordings made to my device directly from the mic, so I wouldn't recommend using the Yeti with a mixer. I'm recording to an iPad using a Behringer interface. If there's a way to use a mixer with the Yeti with no audio degradation, I'd be interested in knowing how 🤔

@ishrashad3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, you sound desperate, Jason, like I often feel... Have you worked it out yet? If not: What is the other mic and is that the Maonocaster AM200? If so, it has two 3.5mm inputs for mic1 & mic2. If you are using the AM200 and got the kit, your other mic is the maono mic, right? OK, that will plug into the AM200... say mic1 - but your USB mic has no place to go, so it will have to go into your PC. At this point, I think you're going to start having latency issues between the two mics... so, you can test it of course and there are ways of getting it to work - with a DAW (like Cakewalk?). BUT.. we're now getting more complex that your requirement sounds, so maybe you just need another Maono (or similar) mic that plugs into the 3.5mm mic2 jack. (The Yeti headphone out MAY work but I'd wager that you will have balancing problems between mics). This ain't exactly high-quality audio, but that's not a show-stopper for a budget podcast. Of course, I've assumed you have the AM200. If you put more detail into your question, you'll get clearer answers, methinks...

I think it is time for mixers to take usb inputs for microphones instead of the same old 3.5 or 1/4 jackplugs. Because most good Microphones are now USB. Yamaha are 10 years behind the times, like sony. But if we stick to old skool methods and use our own skills instead of fancy samples, then we don't need all this mixer hardware anymore, as with software, live performance becomes more easy to manage too
@Big_Red_Dork Жыл бұрын
No, most good microphones are XLR. It's only recently that some USB mics are barely scraping the quality levels of the mid-lower range xlr studio microphones.

Hi Jordan. I have a Cyber Acoustics CVL-2009 USB microphone. I watched this video to get an idea of how to connect any USB mic in general. I noticed that you use an adapter cable with a 3.5mm end and a 1/4 inch end. Would a USB mic work with a mixer if I use an adapter cable with XLR and 3.5mm ends?
@ishrashad3 жыл бұрын
Corbin, I'm assuming you are asking because your mic has a 3.5 headphone output like the Yeti. That right? I'd advise against it because your console/mixer/interface with the XLR input will almost certainly have phantom power capability. And if you accidentally turn it on (or leave it on) when you plug in the mic, you run the risk of damaging the output circuitry in the mic (or whatever device you are connecting. Good way of bricking a phone!) I'd stick with Jordan's suggestion of 3.5 to dual 1/4" (6.5mm). Much safer, circuitry-wise. Still may need a preamp, but that's just audio levels.

the volume using headphones directly from the Blue Yeti it is lower than another source that i have with a connection of 3.5 Jack or directly from the laptop. Do you know if there is a way to increase the output volume from Blue Yeti? I will give you an example. I use to record vocals and using an mp3 track in Audacity, the issue is with the track and not the voice, the volume of the track it is lower than the voice and i want to have an balanced sound over my headphones. I've been attempting to connect my Blue Yeti with my Peavey RQ-2310 but when I plug the mic into the mixer I have to max the gain on both the microphone and the mixer in order to get the levels to a reasonable level. Naturally, this introduces excessive background noise and sounds horrible. The yeti, when just plugged in by itself, has 0 issues and is at a normal volume with no background noise. Any idea what is happening?
