I too came from a physically and emotionally abusive home. When I was 11 years old, I entertained serious thoughts about ending my life to escape it, but my childlike faith kept me from doing that. As a teenager I developed what is called the imposter syndrome because to me there was such a disparity between what actually went on in my home and what my school friends assumed my home life was like. My mother hid our abuse, and I did too because I thought no one would like me if they knew. Thank heavens the current victim mentality was not all prevalent at that time when I was growing up, so I was not crippled by that attitude, but rather when I went away to college, I was free to grow to see myself as the author of my life to create, or re-create, both my interior and outer life . I gained a lot of wisdom and encouragement from the reading of great literature and philosophers, and so I deliberately set about to be the best me that I could be. Although my life has still contained some tragedies, I also have found great joy that was able to counteract the darkness of my childhood. I discovered that did not have to live under that cloud. I became determined to help as many young people who were struggling as I could. Several years ago I was named a National Distinguished Teacher of the Year. Whenever I looked at that plaque on my wall from the U.S. Department of Education with my name on it, I remember that shy, traumatized little girl of years ago, and I am able to smile. I would never have believed when I was trapped in those circumstances as a little girl that I would ever have lived the life I have lived, and I am so grateful. No one who knew me then, especially in the economically deprived area I grew up in, would have thought Life would take me where it has! As Dr. Seuss said in his book "Oh, the Places You'll Go," You have brains in your head, You have feet in your shoes, You can steer yourself, Any direction you choose! And I did!

Everyone keep encouraging m e to level up to boss up and step into the hiring of high society living and what they don't understand that is not what I desire for myself , I have a very giving heart and I don't like saying no to people and a lot of times that puts me in a very bad place with in my own self but I don't worry about it because I know that I can get up and make a way somehow , I love your videos because I am a very lover of nature I love the feeling of being free and one with the universe . As a result I have very little confidence in myself and my mind is always in the negative thoughts pattern. I’ve never been able to do what you’ve done, instead as I’m much older now (70) anxiety fear worry is taking over and I know I need to create a new life for me, even now I want to live however long I have feeling happy and peaceful and create the trust in myself, that I’ve never known! I am still on my journey through grief but I really can see the light now and am navigating my way through with the incredible support of my family and friends. I am now starting to visualise my new life and what I want from it. I am surrounding myself with kindness, concentrating on my mental wellbeing and practicing mindfulness everyday. The power of our breath when meditating and yoga daily has literally saved me. I have health challenges too so an acceptance and relearning that it’s not my fault with what I have and that the insecurities surrounding these are not my insecurities to keep but to let go of. I could go on but… I just want to say, thank you for sharing your beautiful message. Sending love and hugs from the UK. Namaste Connie 🙏 xx

Hi Nikki, I was a mom at 19 years- old and also found myself a single mother of two by age 25. It can be a very scary and uncertain time, yet as moms, we have to hold it together for the kids. From one mom to another, "You have got this!" You are on the right track. Keep tuning into your intuition for guidance through meditation. When you feel overwhelmed, just breathe. Daydream and journal about your ideal future that is on it's way to you. Things do work out! After my divorce, I met the love of my life at 30. He's that handsome, loving man in all of my videos. 😊 Sending you happiness & peace along this NEW journey.

@@ConnieRiet Hi Connie, thank you for your kindness. It has/is a journey that’s for sure. I’m 41 and am learning so much about myself. My friend s and family have truly been wonderful and have let me go through this in my own time, no one has rushed me, told me how I should be feeling etc. I am truly grateful for this. I don’t think I’d be where I am without this time and space I’ve needed. My mind is so my clearer now, yes I still have days where I feel like I’m a bit stuck but they are very few and far between now. I am so much happier apart than before, I couldn’t see how suffocated I had become and how controlled I was. Mediation is my crutch and I am enjoying seeing everyday things with fresh eyes. The town I live in, has been my home since I was born and yet it’s like I’m seeing it for the first time. That’s lovely you met your love, maybe there’s hope for me haha. As I stand on the edge of my time, looking back at the life that was mine Seeing my life in the form of a jigsaw puzzle only reminds me of the struggle I am lost within my mind as if I was drunk on cheap wine I hear the echoes of a thousand voices expounding of the virtues of my choices It is all to familiar and yet so taunting images that linger are so haunting There were times I felt incomplete moments that were bittersweet Wondering if I could have done anything different the little things that seemed so insignificant It was at this point in time the fog was lifted from my mind It was if someone switched on a light it was all within my sight My entire life flashed before my eyes it was then that I realized I was dwelling on the trivial strife when there was so much more to my life I had forgotten the beauty, awl and wonder that had been put asunder Life is a collective experience overflowing with amazing ingredients.

Hi Connie Thank you so much for this beautiful video. It echoes where I am in my life at the moment. I was recently diagnosed with MS after suddenly loosing sight in one eye ( all ok now). Luckily it’s inactive at the moment. I am also having a couple of other health issues as well as dealing daily with my beloved ADHD. With all of this plus running my llama farm my brain feels like a whirlpool nearly every minute of every day. You have given me a great positive perspective with how to look to a positive future. Accepting is a major step which I have tried to do. I will definitely try bringing your suggestions into my life now. Thank you 🙏🦙
