+Sarah Jas Connor just captures my exact feelings about the Coming Out process so well. I'm only out since May of this year to close friends and family, and it's quite a slow process. Ugh, conservative communities make it hard to be yourself. I still have to let my family know I'm atheist too, which is actually more difficult to be honest. I wish you luck Sarah!

I used to go to a school where I was bullied for accepting the LGBT community and treating them like everyone else. I was called a lesbian for that. Eventually I wanted to be accepted and pretended to be homophobic to not be a loner. Then I moved to a new school and I did the same to fit in, but found out I don't have to pretend to be against someone to be accepted. I am pro-LGBT because they are people as well and just because of our differences we should not hate each other. Just my story.

My friend was really sad. She came out to one of her closest friends and she replied "No you aren't, you're just confused" I was literally so mad when I heard she told her that. Then she said "You're too young to know." And that's when I lost my shit. I can't believe that girl had thought that that was a good idea to say that. You're never too young. Some people are just more intelligent or more into the topic than some other people. I just wish people would understand that their sexuality is not a choice and accept everyone for loving them self. Because everyone is a human. And no human should be treated less than others. Ugh I'm never deep but I'm currently curious right now, and I'm terrified. My dad is homophobic and if i find out that I turn out to be something he doesn't want me to be, I'm just scared he won't love me the same, or even look at me. Because I love him so much and I don't want to lose him.

The spectrum thing he was talking about at the end with feeling sorry for people who are sexist and homophobic and racist really spoke to me. My "friend" is a hardcore Christian and when I came out as bi she told me "I don't like your lifestyle choice but you're still my friend, so don't hit on me." She always tries to shove her beliefs down my throat about how I shouldn't be a gay feminist because it's not okay to be gay in the bible and women are supposed to be the inferior sex. And the men where I'm from aren't as accepting as the women are. I always feel so bad for all the people who don't understand that love and compassion can be given to anybody. I told a boy who was calling me a f*g that I felt bad for him because he showed no love to those around him. I'm really only out to me friends and school, but my family is a whole other thing. This world is probably going to be a better world when our generation become adults and the 20 year olds becoming congress and gvmt officials

I'm sorry that your friend was like that. I am a Christian myself, and that's not the way we are supposed to act. We believe that even if someone is doing something we don't agree with, we shouldn't hate them. (I have no idea where she got the whole "inferior sex" thing. Everyone is equal) So I apologize if you feel like all Christians feel that way. She just isn't acting the right way. We don't hate anyone really

I am a catholic girl who has lgbtq+ people everywhere in my family. I Believe everything that Catholics believe... Except for their view on lgbtq's. It makes me so upset to think that there are people out there who think that people choose to be gay, lesbian etc. if you choose to be that way you are choosing to not be accepted by everybody. 🤔 Gay's really do love their same gender. You are so amazing and good luck with life. I love your channel😘 btw I am 12

I'm Catholic too and my church accepts gays but it could be different for you. At first I wasn't sure what my religion said about lgbtq+ so that's why I didn't really support it until I started watching KZbin a lot more and realized that your sexuality does not define who you are and is only a part of you.

I sat here listening to your comments, reflecting on my own growing up in a time period where virtually no one actually "came out" for fear of being kicked out of the house, sent to jail or killed and I continue to be amazed that here you are actually discussing this topic for all the world to see. Never thought I'd be alive to see the day where gay/lesbians could marry let alone, talk about their marriage openly and via mass media. My deepest hope and prayer is that when you are my age (on my driver's license under birthdate it just says :Old ) kids of your age and younger will not even have to "come out" as they will be encouraged and accepted for who they are right from birth. No covert misogynistic values in advertisements et al. Thank you for being one of the pioneers along the path to equality. With my generation it was Stonewall and now with yours it's You Tube. You are brave and bless your family for their courageousness. If but all children were similarly lucky!!!!

Hi okay so this is an old video but I watched your coming out the other day (I've been scouring the Internet for coming out videos lmao) and I now love your channel, but also your video is the one that completely inspired me, and I came out to my sister the other day. She's the first family member I've told (that I'm bi), and I've not got a plan for telling anyone else other than some friends, but I just want to say thank you because thanks to you I finally got the support I need from a family member. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but I've been hiding my sexuality from my family for about a year and a half at this point, and it felt so good to finally tell one of them. I don't normally comment on videos so this is weird for me, but yeah. Thank you for motivating me :)

Hi Conner, I'm not sure if you remember me but I was at your book signing at the mall of America in April. I told you that after your coming out video I started to come out to my family and friends, afterwards you gave me a hug and told me you were proud of me. I don't think you know how much that meant to me. At the time I had not talked to my best friend for 2 months, she could stand me being bisexual. I still have not talked to her, the last time I saw her was on Valentine's Day. That day that I lost her has haunted me ever since and you gave me that little bit of hope that I needed to keep surviving, and to find something to look forward to everyday. Thank you for being such an amazing person.

I really don't know why people HAVE to explain their sexuality to people. Like, sexuality really shouldn't matter. It doesn't define us, it's a small aspect of us. Like, it's not like people say "Oh I'm straiiight" but somehow gay people HAVE to say "Oh I'm gay". Like, it really shouldn't matter what sexuality we are.
@charlotteadams27709 жыл бұрын

+Unchartedid HellsArmy if you're not sure why people announce they are gay watch Ashley Mardell's video "we get it you're gay"
@UnchartedidHellsArmy9 жыл бұрын
I get the video.What I meant, was that even for a straight person! Why does sexuality have such influences on our thoughts? I think its wrong. Our personalities should define the people we are, not what we are attracted to. "The Gays" "Those Trans" It doesn't make sense that we look down upon this, and use it to divide everyone into small segments.
@s.h.83999 жыл бұрын
+MangoSmango1 @unchartadid HellsArmy hi, I read your conversation. I've been stating the same multiple times before. I have really all kinds of sexuality in my friends and they always 'came out', and they always said: "even though I wasn't scared of you taking it 'the wrong way' I'm still happy I did it." so I just said "to me, it doesn't change anything. We're friends anyways". I nearly asked everybody once after a while why they felt the need to come out, because like you, I don't think people shouldn't need to. They all (like really all) said "One thing is, that it becomes like really clear. To yourself, and to all the people around you. Cause if you don't mention (and mention would kinda be enough) it, people will mostly consider you hetero. So if you for example go out with a female friend, the person who doesn't know she's gay, shows her cute boys. It's just so that people know what gender your into, because in the end we all want to have a partner/muliple partners and it's harder to find them without them knowing what you're into. And it's usual that people think you're hetere until they've seen you with a partner who doesn't 'fit the hetero-typ'. And because still most people are hetero and we've been brought up by mainly hetero-generations for the past few decades." So I agree that it'd be nice for people to not have to come out. But they're happy with it, and if they had a bad coming-out, they would've had another bad situation anyways (sadly! like when your homophobic uncle sees you as a girl with another girl..) (sorry for any mistakes I made, I'm not a native English speaker) Cheers :)

@sarcastichearts9 жыл бұрын
(this whole comment is based on the assumption that you still live with your family, so correct me if i'm wrong) i'm pansexual myself, and in my opinion, if they're really homophobic, and coming out might be dangerous to your safety in anyway, then i might advise waiting until you've moved out and are in a safe environment to do so. coming out happens in our own time, and there is no rush. please don't do anything that might jeopardise your health. it really sucks that we can't always have the same privileges and rights straight people have (ie being able to bring dates home without being shouted at), but sometimes we have to be realistic and put our safety first, so you're not abused or kicked out. you're not alone. you're not broken and there's nothing wrong with being who you are. nothing can change who you are. stay safe, friend, i hope everything goes well for you xx
