I remember the day it opening. The entire town was out with the opportunity to get on the telly. I grew up just outside the village. Louisburgh is a beautiful place. The town has had many ups and downs but is now thriving during tourist season due to cafe culture and the wild Atlantic way. Hon the new Gala!

In my younger days, when I was kid, every morning as I woke up and looked out from my bedroom window, I would look directly onto an ancient castle called Castlekirk, but was better known to us Hen’s Castle, it was built on a little island out in the beautiful Lough Corrib, we were told many tales about this castle and how Gráinne Mhaol / Gráinne/ Granuaile O'Malley lived there for short periods of time, it was her get away from the hassle and bustle of a busy life of being the wild sea fairing woman or Pirate Queen of the high seas. As very great Phil Lynott wrote and sang , She took no lip from anyone, no one was tougher than her, not even that other hard and brutal woman Queen Victora

Where are the clowns saying "when Ireland was Irish" comments that usually turn up for these? Out buying England tops for the game on Saturday? Collecting the dole?

Setting up your parameters to suit your criticism of the natives. You're as backwards as they are really, and even more miserable. They have good cause not to want foreigners in the country, whether they follow English football or are on the dole they still have a right to express themselves, your brow beating before a discussion has even occurred is pathetic . You're just brainwashed with the RTE class differentiation that you feel a need to be the deciding factor for the allowance of opinions from others who you deem to be lower class Irish people which is usually an indication that you have allowed ideology to take over instead of critically establishing a point through rationale and logic which they have in fact done even though you have decided that their cultural choices deem them to have inadequacies in their opinions. Mental gymnastics on your part to make you feel superior to natives who want Ireland to stay Irish.
