Hi JIM, I just watched this video once again, you hit it out of the ballpark. Thank you so much I’ve learned so much so far from you. I have one of those lights I picked up at Harbor Freight. It helps a lot annoying the right polish to put on my belt. Thank you again Sam as always, JIM.

Good video man I watched the last sharpening adventure and the quality of the video was much better this time, I sharpen knives for my work on a WEN 1x30 and use 120 grit and then 1000 for future sharpening and it's more than sharp enough for restaurant cutting, I may have to pick up the harbor freight 1x30 after watching these, the speed seems much lower speed which would help not burning up the tip, also the belts seem to go on there so much easier where I wouldn't have to move the whole machine around to change them out, and for this reason I don't use the leather stropping belt cause its spinning so fast it seems dangerous and just go with a paddle strop. I'll probably go get one this week to at least have setup for the leather belt. I am wondering what you are using to clean the belts off in the video?

I appreciate the feedback on the video. I'm still pretty new to cinematography, so any insight is greatly appreciated. This coming week I’m playing around with the settings even more so it will be interesting. I used to use 120 grit and then 1000, but using 600 grit and a strop really makes a huge difference. Surprisingly, the Wen actually goes slower. From what I just looked up, the Wen is 3160fpm, and the sharpener I'm using by Central Machines is 3500fpm. There's a sharpener by Grizzlie that is like the Wen but has adjustable speed for about $150. It just uses quite a bit more power than my mobile setup can handle at the moment, or I would have gotten that. I use just the weight of the blade when it's touching the belt, and I have yet to have a blade even get warm to the touch. I highly recommend the leather belt from Red Label Abrasives! I've tried a few others, but that one comes with white buffing compound and is significantly higher quality. I've also tried several other buffing compounds, but the white one is just next level for me. As for the belt cleaner, you can find it on Amazon or just search for 'belt sander cleaner.' I hope that helps! 😊 www.harborfreight.com/sanding-belt-cleaner-30766.html

Oh and the other thing I will say if you Get this one. Get a new spring!!!!! The spring that comes with them is great but will stretch out that leather belt quicker than you can blink. I’m going to do a follow up video on the mods I have done to mine. Hopefully that will Help others. 😊

I got the light from harbor freight. Yes it is magnetic. Works great for working on cars as well! That was the original reason I got it.
