As an Indigenous, Two-Spirit person from Canada, I love seeing LGBTQ+ representation, as well as representation for women of color. In Canada, I live on the Highway of Tears, which is a stretch of highway in which there have been a bunch of murders, mostly against Indigenous women, some of which were relatives of mine. Sometimes it feels like the world is still trying to erase my people, and I suppose there are people in this world who would prefer if we didn't exist. I have a theory that may hold some truth: Perhaps when tribal values had to conform to Christian and other religious values during colonization, it caused problems? I'm not super knowledgeable on all native tribes, or all of the Bible, but I can see how their values may not line up. There are a lot of objectively good values in the Bible, and many values that can be misinterpreted for man's selfish desires. This may have bred a new culture in indigenous tribes that passed down through the years, strengthened by the fact they are often segregated from society through governments or their own choices.
