Console players still don't understand that you can build a PC that's comparable in price to a console and get just as much if not better performance. They STILL stick to the narrative that you MUST build a PC that's worth more than a car to play games. The funny thing is that playing with my friends on PC is free whereas on console you spend what, a minimum of 60 USD a year just to do the exact same thing? Honestly I prefer console just because it feels better personally. This isn't a common case, for me I find it easier to play on Xbox since any game I have an interest in will either be playable or not with reviews giving an idea if the game is poorly optimized. Any experience I have with PC it's: Do I have every single part that can run this game? Are every single one of my drivers updated? Why is Steam Web Helper crapping itself? Please stop "Not Responding", why are you "Not Responding"? Why won't Steam Client Bootstrapper close, I just wanted to restart Steam? Why is it running so slow now, I clicked download 10 minutes ago? Wait they never fixed that and now I need to find an obscure mod just to fix it?

Mileage may vary with certain regions. But even then, you get _massive_ savings down the road with building a PC; even if it's just a decent one. I've had my rig for well over 10 years now, and minus maybe one major upgrade (MOBO died, and I had the money so why not upgrade?), I've saved so much dosh by switching from Console to PC.

@@AlexiaHoardwing Seconding that was a bit on the harsh side, as far as replies go. But generally speaking? Some of the issues you mentioned just come down to user error or just lack of knowledge. Generally all you need for a build is: A CPU, GPU (if your CPU doesn't have integrated graphics built in), RAM, Storage IE an SSD or HDD, Motherboard, Power Supply and a Case. As far as part compatibility is concerned, sites like Newegg, Microcenter or PCPartPicker help immensely. Past experience aside, trust me: it's easy peasy to put one together and run it. And even if there's a goof up somewhere, the internet has a plethora of resources to look into for support. Also, while I wouldn't necessarily vouch for pre-builts (they're usually upcharged up the ASS) they do exist as an option too. Either way, you keep doing you tho; sincerely o/

The idea of playing Bloodborn, Driveclub, Journey, or Wipeout Omega Collection (or Wipeout HD Fury on RPCS3) does sound awesome to emulate if got the hardware power for PC. Could imagine that using an Xbox controller than just using the Dualshock 4 will be awesome. I say it'd be great to keep the PlayStation 4 for the accuracy of the rendering on the games when that PS4 emulator develops more. That's amazing that it can run at 120fps in emulation.

I would happily dump ROMs from physical copies... if I could afford them. Retro games are so ridiculously expensive now, it's absurd. I bought a physical copy of Super Metroid way back in 2015 for $60, and I thought that was pricey even then. Now, copies of that game sell for over $200. Even PS2 games that used to never be more than around $10-20 have climbed in price. Inflation's a bitch.

PC is open - I can always just mod out the DRM from my Digital Steam games. I know if Valve ever went rouge one day I can download all of my games, remove their DRM, and go elsewhere. That capability makes buying all digital games on PC a more comfortable option.

Fun take: You don't own your physical games either. It is BEYOND trivial, literally hilariously beyond trivial, for Sony and Microsoft to implement means to blacklist physical games. Even for consoles that quote "Never connect to the Internet". There are means to blacklist even on that. Don't think your physical copies means you're good. I wouldn't want to play the physical copy of Cyberpunk 1.0 on consoles, that's for damned sure. And despite PC gaming being "all digital", piracy enables game preservation beyond what physical media can ever do. So we still have the better choice!

On pc you can crack, clone, edit and use your games offline. You own the content as long as you have the keys. Which is not something most people let alone the base console gamer understands when compaired to users who homebrew there consoles. There is technically nothing illegal about the emulator, unlike with Yuzu, ChadPS4 devs don't sell the emulator or distribute copyrighted files. That, and it's an open source project. Sony even lost a case against a previous PS emulator if I'm not mistaken.

I’m not sure where to put this, either here or on reddit and I sure as heck ain’t going to reddit. The best, and least talked about, part about PC gaming is just how versatile it is. Back before I built my first PC, the game I really wanted to get was Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Back then I was using a work laptop my dad gave me to play all my games. Now I know that now Syndicate doesn't sound all that impressive, but you have to remember this was like 2016. Syndicate was a pretty big game for 2015, it was gargantuan for it to be running on a 5 year old work laptop. When I got Syndicate it ran like trash, looking at anything was lethal to the laptop. Even with the settings all the way down, it still would turn into a slideshow if I got a good view of the map. I eventually decided enough was enough, I wanted to see what the game had without it being a single digit frame rate. I did a lot of research and eventually went into the games files and turned down everything that was even slightly demanding. By the time I was done the game ran at a beautiful 60fps. With the downside of this being the graphics looked like mashed potatoes. And this is why I just cannot care when people lose their marbles over a slight graphical increase,like going from a PS5 to a PS5 pro. And this is what makes PC the best, because if you have the dedication, you can get any game to run on any setup.

The upgrading parts thing is also becoming less of a concern over time as we hit a brick wall with graphics. We have been seeing dimishing returns as graphics are getting so good you can hardly even tell the difference anymore. Hell, some games from a decade ago actually look better than some modern games.

5:00 You arguably don't own your physical games, either. Just a loisence to play them. The legality of modding your console and backing up your own content is questionable. And then when the servers go down in 15 years, all you'll have is the disk and whatever update and DLC is on it. This is actually the reason why emulation is so important for preservation. It's really funny that even your physical console games are super locked down, but Steam games without DRM kind of just shrug and say "go crazy, kid." They still have Steamworks DRM, so I don't technically _own_ them, but I still feel a much stronger sense of ownership with them.

no need at this rate by the time the PS5 will be emulated sony would put out every exlusive to the pc by march these year they only really left with deamon souls and astro bot any thing else is a psvr 2 title which is why I think we will get a ton of PSVR 2 games to help sell those games as almost no one is buying them on the ps5

the tomb raider remasters only exist because of russian modders who probably played those games for free growing up as they couldnt buy them and loved them so much that they made mods remastering the game, this caused them to get the attention of these companies who own the rights and go after them and then they hired them to actually make the remasters, they now work for saber interactive making space marine 2. The 4k graphics enjoyer is funny, no one on consoles has 4k. The discussion on digital games is stupid because i bought the disk version of wolfesntein new order because my internet was slow at the time so i didnt want to download all of that....the whole game wasnt in the disk i had to download 10gb more. So what is the point of "physical" copies now that you have to downloaded patches that are 20-30gb or even more to be apply the game. The only way to make sure you keep your games is to literally rip the game and put it on disks of your own.
