The Genesis soundtrack is very dark and creepy, ambient. That's why I love it so much. Far better than the Super Nintendo version.
@lynks86 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Does every scene in the movie have heart-pounding, ear-shredding, full-on musical scores? No! The majority of it is ambient...something to add to the experience, not overpower it. In some games, like, say Sonic/Mario, yea...i want awesome, loud music...but while sneaking around Jurassic Park trying not get my head bitten off by a T-Rex, Sega's music is perfect here.

The Genesis version used digitized imagery from the movie (i.e. the dinosaurs, for example), and this added to the game’s realism. As far as I’m concerned, the Genesis version is the more faithful adaption.

The thing i really like about your videos is that they are entertaining and pack a great view of both games , leaving fanboyism and hyper-marketing aside. Few videos of this nature have that;and yes people will get butt-hurt and bitch about your choices, usually because they want you to confirm their view of the games and not to contest. Keep it this way.

I have both versions. They are both great in there own way. While the SNES plays like an adventure game, collecting Dinosaur eggs, key cards to excess certain levels of the game while at the same time picking up a weapon arsenal such as BOLAS, Shot Gun's, Rocket Launchers, Grenades and your standard Taser or Cattle-prod. It plays in a Bird's Eye view for most of the part, until you enter the compound and there it switches to first-person view, which can be a little awkward for 16-bit game since it wasn't really designed that kind of game play but it was revolutionary at the time. The music has a atmospheric type of sound, hence why the music cuts off whenever you enter a different area of the game. It's just like Super Metriod whenever you enter a new area the music changes. Also it was mastered in Dolby Digital Surround Sound, how cool is that??!! My biggest complaint for it is a lack of a save feature. The game is long and can probably take up to two-three hours depending if you know where to go and what to do, but if not, the game would have to be completed in one sitting and you would be stuck for hours wondering around, figuring out what to do. I did read up that they had plan to install a battery back up feature to save your progress, but it was too expensive for them to do it, so they released the game as is. The Sega version plays more on survival tactics. All your weapons you get in the game are mainly tranquilizers and gas grenades. You can't kill the Dinosaurs in this game like you could in the SNES. You can only put them to sleep for a short while. The controls are somewhat delayed, especially in areas where jumping is crucial. Sometimes when you are running and you want to jump, nothing happens and you fall and die. Speaking of Falling, that is probably the most frustrating part of the game. If you fall too high you either take damage or fall off the screen. I think the developers were probably going for realism. Most part of the game is done in Trial and error and believe me if you are playing it for the first time, you are going to be making a lot of errors. One major complaint that I had for this game was in certain levels, the game has lag, making it a little frustrating when you are climbing ladders, jumping on platforms and hand to hand monkey bar climbing. Despite some cons, both version have their charm.

@leadbones7 жыл бұрын
+Derfel Cadarn Creativity doesn't make a game better. Sure, the Genesis version is a side scroller. A decent side scroller is better than a creative failure. The fps sections in the SNES game are awful, and top down action wasn't creative or new.
@WR3ND6 жыл бұрын
I agree that it doesn't make all that much sense comparing these games. I prefer this version of the JP SNES games for variety and gameplay. There are any number of these sort of cinematic, stop-motion platformers, and much better ones at that. Yeah, no thanks. Definitely have to give it the JP SNES game here, as in it's something I might actually like to play now and then.

I always loved the SNES version of Jurassic Park. The music was always great, and while I did get lost quite a bit I still enjoyed it. I never beat it as a kid. But with an emulator I managed to get through it with save states. To be fair it reminded me of a survival horror game...which is probably why I had the patience to sit through it. Shhhhhhhhhh. Don't need to get i trouble for that one too. Maybe the copyright for the Jaws theme is over since it came out so long ago?
@kingkirby771410 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the Jaws music copyright lasts until 95 years after the publication date. And the Jurassic Park theme (since it was released after 1977) is copyrighted until 70 years after the creator's death. And John Williams is still alive. So just hold out a hundred years, and you're golden, ha ha.

They'll extend copyright before then. Copyright terms are now basically infinite.

I grew up with the JP on Sega. played it at my neighbors. I was more into SNES ports of the games as I found them better (but had my Genesis games that weren’t available for snes) so I wanted the SNES game assuming it would be the same game but better. I don’t recall where I saw and played it but I was disappointed but intrigued to play. I recall getting bored quick and just wanting to see the T-Rex. It felt like and RPG without role playing enemy fights and then the Doom like stages which I never got into a doom. So I liked the Genesis version best. It had better gameplay, there was more tense and suspense due to the dinosaurs jumo scares and game looked gritty, it was a good ambiance for dinosaurs. Looking at this video I’m glad I never got the SNES version. The game felt like one big level that liked the same with the occasional third person shooter levels. No doubt if the SNES got ported the same version game as the genesis it would have been better. However even though the genesis JP game is better, why do a comparison of the consoles as they were two completely different games?

The SNES version had a lot of potential. It was kind of like a Zelda game. But with no saving, no maps, and virtually no direction provided, it was incredibly difficult to actually make any progress in the game. You described it as being a 2 hour game? Maybe if you knew what you were doing. Other wise this game is incredibly difficult and absolutely demands you to take notes if you don't want to become very frustrated and lost.

I agree with Xavior... The Genesis version is terrible, it's just a generic platform game with horrible gameplay... The control response is just irritating! The Snes game is a more interesting game, in my opinion. It's not a greeeeat game (very far from it) but an open world game brings more possibilities than a generic platform game... With VERY BAD controls.
@megamarsonic7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they're equally bad. At least the top-down area on the SNES version is a lot of fun to play. The first person levels just bring it down by a lot but the controls, enemy placement and some of the level design on the Genesis is just horrendous! Saying these are equally bad is like saying drinking Pepsi and drinking bleach are equally terrible ideas. Sure one might not be the best tasting drink out there but at least it's not Pepsi.
