If you could see a recording of any tune of Leo's added to my channel what would it be?

I just learned "William Powell" and I'm now working on, and making some great discoveries with "Oddball" so I'd have to say "Peckerwood" since I can't find any videos of Leo playing it. I'm diving back into his material and really digging his "country jazz" tunes. His compositional genius and dynamic prowess continue to astound me! I remember when "Constant Traveler" was on his setlist but, he was feeling guilty for having "stolen" the thematic riff from John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. He finally changed the name to "Open Country Joy". I always look forward to your posts!

C’est tellement bien joué, vous êtes certainement le meilleur interprète de Kottke rien de moins!

Probably my all-time favourite Kottke tune - amongst a host of others, needless to say !! Superbly played and that 12 string rings so beautifully. That's the next few days taken care of for me..

Sending you much admiration and appreciation from England. Leo and yourself are the reason I bought a 12 string guitar...even if listening to your incredible playing also makes me want to sell it for firewood 😅

Leo is such a prolific artist its amazing. I dont know if he's super famous around there (Cause i'm not american and have never live there), but he surely deserves to be known as one of the greatest acoustic guitarrists ever. Wish more of his stuff gets on spotify. And of course, perfect cover. I would apreciate a "Orange room" cover, with a cool effect.

Truly amazing. I love all of your uploads. I've been told you use silk and steel strings. Would you care to comment on gauge and brand? I used to use them eons ago, but haven't for a long time. I'm sure the guitar (and you) are responsible for that amazing tone, but the silk and steel just puts it over the top.
@andrewlardner2 жыл бұрын
I like LaBella silk and steel for the B45s. The gauges are pieced together in a custom manner.

No one could sound more loke Kottke than Mr Lardner. Kottke himself is wondering how to sound like that

Haha, thank you. I owe everything I’ve learned to Leo. His music captivated me, at 16 years old I had to figure it out. Would have never picked up the acoustic if it weren’t for his records.

@@andrewlardnerI remember coming home at the age of 3 to find the Best double LP on the turntable. Dad was at work, Mum put it on to see what he had been buying. I played that to death all through my childhood. Amazing

I believe I already replied to this a month ago, perhaps on a different thread? But if I may cast a second vote, I would love to learn. Ojo the proper way. I know the Stropes transcription is probably pretty darn accurate, but the notes on the paper are less than half the challenge. To get the actual sound, proper string muting, and balance between bass and treble melody, etc.. all of the subtle things that make it great. Likewise with air proofing. Which is especially riveting.
