True that they both don’t look anything like their characters, but a major plot point or value to the character of Jack reacher is the fact that he’s a 6 foot 6 mountain of a man and intimidates everyone he comes across. We are all very aware that Tom Cruise is Borderline a legal midget. So that honestly ruined that movie for me. The new series is much better than those movies. So whereas I’m not arguing with your point that they are both very different looking. I would say the Jack reacher Tom Cruise casting is much more egregious

I never understood the need to be 100% comicbook accurate, or original medium accurate. If the performance, and story is good enough, and you were entertained, i feel the interpretation of the IP has done it's job. Having a thing, is better than not having a thing. Also, Keanu is the reason I learned about Constantine, so to me, he's the baseline of what that character should be. Same with batman, Keaton was the first time I saw a batman, and I've judged every batman from the lense. In writing this lmao I realize why said accuracy is so important to some people, as that may be their initial intro to the character. Carry on folks, I just wasted yours, and my time. Toodles

I kinda feel like, with the exception of it being rather different in many ways from source material, it mostly just suffers from the “Nickelback Effect”: where it has a fair enough amount of flaws to make people give it more hate than it really deserves, then it gets popular to hate it, and eventually the hate for said thing becomes its own living breathing organism and either as popular as if not more popular than the thing people are hating. This movie was always one of my guilty pleasures growing up. Still is. Except anymore, honestly, I feel like it’s not half as bad as people made it out to be when I was younger. I watch it now and it still holds up exceptionally well. It’s so cool and built in its own world, and done so uniquely while feeling like Constantine, just an alternate Americanized version. With black hair. I dunno. I really loved it, still do, and it’s honestly one of my favorite Keanu roles, period.

Tilda Swinton. She was so good in this film they could have named it "Constantine: Tilda Swinton."

Honestly keep that bit about watches in please. Not that I know the least bit about it but hearing Mason effortlessly riffing on it was a blast

I had a ton of fun with this when it came out. That weird logical of the magic is what stuck with me.

I still think Constantine's depiction of firey hell is the best ever seen in the movies.

While I love that movie I like Mathew Ryan's performance in the tv show and DC animated movie more so and would love to see more of him in live action aswell outside cameo's on the lesser (CW?) DC tv shows

I remember seeing this movie as a kid and it confused me and I wasn’t keen on it. But now I want to watch it again. Anyway, the one moment that’s stuck with me more than anything is when the guy can’t have any liquid, that was traumatising and clever aha

This movie made me really confused too as a kid, but it just made me want to watch more lol

8:32 Peter Stormare explaining to a raggedy demon why their palace is gone is an inspired bit of editing.

The game had this AWESOME puzzle mechanice where you would be unable to move forward, so you'd find a puddle or some other source of water, use it to send yourself to Hell where there was a more than likely dangerous way around whatever the obstacle is, then pop back into the world of the living past the obstacle. It was really quite brilliant and a lot of fun.

Tilda Swinton as androgynous Angel Gabriel is unsettling

Loved this film when it came out, always felt it's maintained a certain style and uniqueness even after all these other comic book properties. Reeves was essentially perfect casting outside of appearance/accent. Having said that, I would have loved to see a John Cusack version, him channeling his 1408 performance perhaps as a tired cynic. The same disdain for the paranormal and holy, only unable to deny it.

One of those films that 'clicks'... Love it. Incredibly well made and shot. Great soundtrack by APC too.

This was a great film, one of the best interpretations of Satan in cinema, and as blasphemous as this sounds, I prefer this interpretation of Constantine substantially more then that if the source material. Also notable mentions go to midnite, Gabriel and Balthasar, just super compelling characters and fantastic performances

I still think that while ending sequence is one of the most memorable endings out there.

Just watched this on Netflix, saw the bad guy from the very start of John wick 2 towards the end. Wasn't too shabby at all, always good to see the mummy Mrs O'Connell herself get into some shenanigans

The British references at the beginning of this were great. I mean Raven, for Christ sake. Just amazing.

I remember going to see this in highschool with one of my best buds and we had to lie to his mom about what we were seeing because she was a huge bible thumper, and thought the idea of this was blasphemous. Lol
