Great video otherwise, hope this gets more traction as this is an absolutely valuable video to address which no offense is a silly objection to Christianity. I agree, the term Roman Catholic came around the 1600's as an insult from the Anglicans. The church has never called herself Roman Catholic. But unfortunately most Catholics don't even know this either. The Church has been called Catholic since 110 AD from St. Ignatius of Antioch.

There are 73 books in the Bible. All Christians agreed about this until the 1500s, when some people started removing books that refuted their new spinoff religion.
@Frankjp5559 күн бұрын
My friend the pope didn’t agree about this as late as 1517-1522. The compultensian polyglot was a Bible produced by Cardinal Ximenez in 1517, and received papal approval in 1522 by pope Adrian VI. This polyglot excluded all of the deutero canon, yet received papal approval. Cardinal Cajetan, a staunch critic of Luther, wrote a Bible commentary dedicated to the pope in 1532 in which he writes the following “And in this place [after Esther] we conclude the commentaries on the historical books of the Old Testament. For the rest (i.e., Judith, Tobit, and the books of the Maccabees) are reckoned by divine Jerome as outside the canonical books and he places them among the apocrypha, with the book of Wisdom [of Solomon] and Ecclesiasticus (Sirach), as is clear in the Prologus Galeatus. Nor ought you be disturbed if you find somewhere those books reckoned among the canonical, whether in the sacred councils or among the sacred teachers. For the words of both councils and teachers ought to be brought back to the revision of Jerome, and according to his opinion expressed to bishops Chromatius and Heliodorus, those books [today’s aprocrypha/deuterocanonical books] (and if there are any other similar in the canon of the Bible), are not canonical, i.e., [they] are not normative to confirm those things which are of the faith. But they can be called canonical (that is, normative) for the edification of the faithful, as received and authorized in the canon of the Bible. For with this distinction you can discern the things said by Augustine in book 2 of De doctrina christiana, and written in the Council of Florence under Eugene IV, and written in the provincial councils of Carthage and Laodicea, and by Popes Innocent and Gelasius.” Your claim of “all Christians” agreeing on 73 books of the Bible until the 1500’s is one of the most outright historical falsehoods that could be made regarding the Protestant/Catholic canon disagreement.
@marcosvazquez39848 күн бұрын
Oh please don’t say that Martin Luther dismissed the deuterocanonical books because he kept being schooled by others that used those books. 🤭🤫
@Frankjp5558 күн бұрын
@ That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that 2 high ranking cardinals, contemporary with Luther, produced works that denied the deuterocanon which received papal approval. Wow. The simple fact that so many people believe all these ridiculous lies just blows my mind. They hear one or 2 things and just run with it and start claiming it as fact. It's really sad honestly. Most people nowadays don't have the intellectual integrity to hear something and go and research it for themselves before they start claiming it as a fact or even spreading the rumor or whatever they just start talking. Back in the ancient times when you spoke it meant something you chose your words wisely nowadays people just talk just to talk. And that is why we have so many confusions and misunderstandings on biblical theology and historical happenings.

At 12:15 she asks the most important question and Wes Huff struggles epically to answer the question without admitting the Roman Catholic Church existed at this time , even using words like bishops , priests and deacons. He even says priests to describe people that were there and quickly corrects himself and says I mean pastors. Of course we know the truth is that there were no denominations in 325 AD and all that existed were Catholic Christians with a Pope and there would be no denominations until 1516 when Martin Luther would come on the scene.

I'm very much convinced of the biblical account and it's historical, geographical and, theological voracity. I believe that a person's view on the Bible is the single most important thing in our lives. If Jesus is the Word as John 1:1 says then the Word (and Jesus by definition) is our literal Bread of life. Where things can easily fall off the rails is one believers understanding or interpretation of the very bread we are consuming at the soul level. The NT is very careful to point out that sound doctrine is a key ingredient to living properly and walking out what you've accepted as true. Topics such as what does it mean to under the law? What is the Law from a Jewish and Christian mindset because the two are NOT the same concepts. Judaism follows the Oral Law written in Talmudic writings as well as Tanach (OT) but it seems to place a more impactful significance on the Talmud. Christians have a fundamentally different oral tradition than Jews do and the New Testament as well but we seem to equate our own oral tradition as being NT without letting the NT differentiate itself and realign back with the OT as one single full written narrative guide. The NT does not stand alone and it cannot be fully understood or appreciate without understanding the Law, Writings, Prophets, and Psalms. This is exactly why Matthew 1:1 begins with. "The genealogy of Jesus Christ son of David, Son of Abraham." If we don't appreciate the Jewish backdrop of the NT then we have all this new "little Jesus" new age theology. Keep up the good work Wes! Bless you brother!

when he says things can always be traced back to an apostle why did he not give specific names like he normally does? It is a known fact that no one knows the who wrote the book of hebrews but he said that can be traced back to a witness... who is this witness and why should we trust him. I also found it interesting that he said that there were many discussions had on if there should be only 4 books in the new testament but does not explain why which specific books were accepted and why some were not. He then shifts his focus back to Constantine and ignores the fact that there are so many different types of bibles for a reason.

catholic comes from the greek "katholikos" which means universal inclusive and in the context of nicea it was used to say "all in agreement" which the whole term was "one holy, catholic and apostolic church" which it was catholic because everyone agreed with the original creed. Fun fact: the orthodox church was nicknamed orthodox by the pope that seperated from the east. The orthodox still refer to themselves as "the one holy catholic and apostolic church" roman catholics are not the only church that use that word. @@budoboy1977 According to the Nicene Creed, the four marks of the Church are "...one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church." Just because the word "Catholic" is capitalized in the title "Roman Catholic Church" does not mean that it doesn't mean "universal" or tie itself to this creedal and indelible mark of the Church. The proper term for this church you are referring to is more precisely the "Catholic Church," because there are different historical branches in the Catholic Church that aren't "Roman." There are Eastern Catholics, Maronites, Melkites - all under the umbrella of the historical "Catholic Church" but are not "Roman." They submit to the Pontiff as Vicar of Christ. The big-C "Catholic Church" is definitionally true to the word "catholic" and this is where the name gets its meaning.

Sadly you guys are incorrect about the Sabbath please show me a single verse that actually changes it because while you stipulated that he was talking about the Lord's Day in the Book of Revelation nowhere does that was Sunday in fact most people believe that when he said it was the Lord's day it was a vision of the day the Lord comes back the Lord's day that time period so no there's literally nothing in Scripture that states we can worship on Sunday nothing in Scripture that states that God changed the Sabbath he only hallowed Saturday the 7th day of the week he never hallowed Sunday so worship or not on whatever day you want that's fine but there's only one day that's holy to God

That's very honest, too many people would scoff at sound reasoning like yours with a mindset bearing the argumentum ad. consequentiam fallacy. For some reason, people think that because our Messiah picked grain to eat on the Sabbath, means that the Sabbath was bad or something. Yet, all day long you can hear sermons criticizing Pharisees. Very ironic. Let me also say, our society does not facilitate resting on the Sabbath, and it is very hard to obey YHWH at times. Perhaps the Constantine creed was a fulfillment of prophecy that believers would be persecuted.

I love you Brother Wes. And I BELIEVE you are being sincere. But, your discernment about the Sabbath is incorrect. Exodus 31:16-17 KJV. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. Quite simply the Bible (Word of God) says the Sabbath is on the seventh day. AND, for a very specific reason. I Am also put it in the Commandments that we are to remember it. I AM also said we are to keep his Sabbaths from generation to generation. NEVER in the King James Bible does he say Sundaay is now the Sabbath. And, speaking of King James, I am skeptic of any "bible" that has omitted verses with no explanation. Especially a verse such as Matthew 17:21, that explains how to get rid of demons! 🤔 So, KING JAMES VERSION only, please!😧 Proverbs 30:6 KJV Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Deuteronomy 12:32 KJV What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. Mark 7:9,13 KJV And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. Colossians 2:8 KJV Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. GOT IT?🤗
