The Queen of Denmark does this, and when she gives her New Years Address , it is not full of pious platitudes , but contains important issues that are relevant to All the people in Denmark. The Crown Prince and his wife are also above individual Party Politics , but go out more among the people. Their children up tp year 9 go to State Schools. The 2 eldest children now go to Gymnasien (Grammar Schools) their children belong to regular Sports Clubs. The couple go abroad with trade delegations ,and earn millions for their economy.( 300 million euros in Saudi Arabia ) . He does his best for danish Theatre, Sports, Music and the Arts . The Crown Prince has Masters degrees in Political Science and Environmental Science and has enabled little Denmark to be years ahead of Britain in Climate Change and post fossil fuel generation of electricity. King Charles has been talking about this, but Frederik and Denmark are world leaders in this field . If we are going to have a King , he should do more than charity , annd cutting ribbons opening this and that. . I hope he does. The era of a monarch being 'silent' on any issue is over. The Queen was afterall from a generation known as the 'Silent generation' - this generation includes anyone born in the 1920's and 30's . It precedes the 'Boomer' generation. People from the silent generation are getting fewer now with them being in their 80's and 90's. The Queen, was like the generation she belonged too - never grumbled in public, didn't believe in protest or direct action and tended to be very conservative. They didn't like to disrupt things or 'upturn the apple cart' so to speak. And they were not vocal in public or very opinionated - like the generations before, and after them were, and are. Anyone who thinks that King Charles will be like his mother and say nothing or not give his opinion about some issues, will be in for a shock. He most certainly will do. And right now, I think Britain needs this. We need a more vocal monarch to counter the Tories, and the increasing threats they pose to the future of the UK. I look forward to, and welcome the thoughts of King Charles, and I hope he will speak up if the Tories continue in their path towards 'faux fascism'. Not quite full blown fascism, but only a degree or two below it. The Tories have already swung further to the right under Boris Johnson. And the whole idea behind this policy is basically a 21st century equivalent of the slave ships of the 18th century transporting African slaves to the US. Regarding other issues such as Environmental standards, Food standards, and Medicines - the UK simply HAS to get on with other European countries - this is not an option. It's a MUST. Nor is waging a petty and futile war against the EU. There will only be one winner - and it won't be us. 1 country vs 27 countries + the EU institution itself. You do the maths. It's insane that we even think we can win this. The arrogance is astonishing. About the NI Protocol... I will tell you one thing. If Liz Truss and her government destroy or even partially damage the NI Protocol, then all hell will break lose. It won't just be Ireland we have to answer to, but the EU, AND America aswell. The whole reason there is no sustained violence in Northern Ireland is down to the the GFA (Good Friday Agreement) from which the NI Protocol stems from. It's high time the British (and in particular the English) understood this. People in England SHOULD know about the GFA and the NI Protocol - they have had 25 years to find out about what it means. Instead of being ignorant and continually 'apathetic'. If we damage the GFA, America have already said that there will not be a Trade seal that is beneficial to us. And they mean it. I hate to break it to my fellow English people - but if America ever had to choose between the UK and Rep of Ireland.....they would choose the latter. We need to think about what we do regarding the NI Protocol very very carefully. Because not having good relations with America isn't worth thinking about. And finally the new Monarch. I really hope the new King doesn't stay silent on all matters as his mother did. She was a product of her generation, and one from a different era. Charles needs to be his own man and do things his way. He needs to raise important issues when it is necessary to. And if this means clashing with the government and wider Tory party on things such as Environmental standards, Food standards, or Renewable Energy - then so be it. Someone needs to hold the Tories to account. They need to be accountable to someone, because right now they are not accountable to us. Not remotely.

How do you feel about the ending of the Kaiserreich? Personally, I think the lack of a Kaiser led the German people to unfortunately accept Hitler as Fuhrer. Weimar Germany might have survived as a constitutional monarchy rather than as a republic. One way to achieve this in 1918 would have been this: Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicates and is exiled. His son, Wilhelm Crown Prince, succeeds to the throne as Kaiser Wilhelm III, and then he too immediately abdicates and is also exiled because of his earlier support for the Great War. Finally, his son, Prince Wilhelm of Prussia, aged 12 in 1918, succeeds to the throne as Kaiser Wilhelm IV. His mother, Princess Cecilie, could act as a largely powerless Regent until Wilhelm IV came of age. In the meantime, Wilhelm IV could be given a modern secondary and higher education and taught to respect democratic values.

The opening statement you made is absolute tosh. The Monarch is THE BOSS of the business of UK plc. All Lords and MP's swear an oath of allegiance to Charles. If Charles wants Liz to do something, she's got to do it. If she doesn't do it she's breaking her oath, which ultimately is breaking law. Charles doesn't get involved in the administration of HIS Constitutional Parliament but he's got every right to oversee policy and change/amend things he sees fit. Why do you think the Monarch's weekly meetings with Truss are kept private? One reason is that the public don't get to know how much influence the Monarch really has in Parliamentary affairs. It would be interesting to see if the DUP are forced back into Stormont to 'seek the welfare' of all in Northern Ireland, as Charles put it.
