Thanks for answering my question. I’ve played around with no contact muscle snatches and as a masters weightlifter all I got from it was early arm bend, over extension of the torso and difficulty in not allowing the elbows to drop under and press. I feel like the muscle snatch is one accessory exercise that all weightlifters do from all countries and I’ve certainly enjoyed the benefits cycling it through my technique primers.

Also, I’d be afraid the no contact variation could mess with the timing of the second to third pull transition and potentially ingrain an early arm bend habit.

@@CatalystAthletics I know it sounds strange, training for a long time but I never really have understood the hip contact it's just not the way I perceive it. To me contact is going to move bar away not up.

Short version is that you cannot pull properly without contact - but how that contact occurs will determine whether or not it improves bar acceleration and elevation, or adds forward momentum.
