The muscle snatch is best for drilling the turn over in the snatch? Thank you.

IF you do it this way, it's a good exercise for learning, practicing and strengthening the snatch turnover, yes.

Just don't do a snatch clean and press!

Can you do the same with the muscle clean?

Good ol' Catalyst. If I wasn't 37 fricking years old I would see about going to train there. Ah well, we have these videos and the website.

Why does that matter? I went to China to train and I'm 36

Could you possibly do a video on people with short torsos and long femurs (go to mobility drills)?
@CatalystAthletics5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why those people need their own special mobility drills. All the parts are the same, all the stretches do the same things...

Maybe I have been doing muscle snatches wrong the whole time- do you contact with the hip still or not? I’ve always done a muscle snatch without contacting the hip but it looks like the lady in the video contacted every time
@theylivewesee16745 жыл бұрын
yes that is also a variation you can try, no contact muscle snatch, without contact you rely on your arm and shoulder strenght to pull the bar up

They Live We See thanks lmao thought I was crazy

With no contact, I call it a snatch long pull. The terminology is totally unstandardized. Some people will tell you a muscle snatch means no contact and no hook grip; some this; some with the dropping elbows that I hate. www.catalystathletics.com/exercise/316/Snatch-Long-Pull/

Sick of people confusing snatch grip muscle cleans and presses with muscle snatches. Fans were saying lasha done a 140 Ms recently, it wasn't. I suspect from your intro to this video that you're still frustrated Greg? Lol.
@CatalystAthletics5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say I'm frustrated because I don't really care how strangers do any lift...doesn't hurt me. But I do very much believe that the common snatch grip clean & press does very little to improve the performance of the snatch and have yet to see anyone defend it with a rational argument. Interesting video is of Mart Seim doing some MS - in his first, lightest set (and empty bar) he keeps his elbows up through the turnover... and then starts dropping as weight increases... which says volumes to me... but what do I know. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHqmoaNso72BiZo

@@CatalystAthletics I can only think people use this movement to strengthen the pull from the floor to the shoulders, then the final overhead snatch position, ignoring the press which links the two. Hey ho. A ''snatch grip muscle high pull and press'' if you will.
@CatalystAthletics5 жыл бұрын
@@JMJC1 Nonsense. Snatch high-pull can be loaded more heavily to take care of the first part more effectively, and snatch push presses and snatch balances same for the second part... Still waiting for a sensible rationale...

@@CatalystAthletics that's the point I was trying to (badly) explain above. You put it in more correct terms. 👍
