On all these examples you showed here it looks like the jaker is comming in from the side of the ruck

Are you sure the first example is a legal play? You have #8 and #1 of white seemingly bound, and two players in green meeting them at the shoulders, so what you consider jackaling by #8 looks like hands in the ruck to me. Your team gets to snatch the ball or to ruck over it, but not both at once, do they?

I think the important point here is that the ruck hadn't formed, because there was no engagement by green, by the time 8 had gone for the ball

What about the allowance to place the ball for the tackled player?

Thank you for making these fantastic break down videos. What should you do with your head to help protect your neck? Do you want to be looking up slightly so you can see incoming opposition or do you want it looking towards the ball?

Thanks for taking a look. That decision often depends on context. A lot of the scanning is done pre-contact- this allows you to determine where the threats are coming from, speed, angle etc. E.g if you have just won the race to the ball then you know the attackers will be hitting you immediately. With that information you can then get into the strongest position which is often getting your chest as close to the ball as possible with your chin tucked into chest.

@@SportsFan-gr8zxif you are in open space and there are no attackers coming for the clear out for a while its best to keep your head up and tug at the ball

Hi, great vid. I have a question, if you tackle the player and both go to ground and none of the supporting opposition players have arrived yet, can you quickly stand up and jackal?
@quentinbaker4074 Жыл бұрын
Aa long as you show hands or make it obvious you aren't engaged with the ball while on the ground whilst being onside, yes.

This video was really helpful, I just wanted to know when you win the ball in the ruck but you can’t get it out for whatever reason do you just hold it, or would that be foul
@ContactCoach2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear. If you have won the ball legally, you are entitled to stay there as long as stay 'on your feet'. If you go off your feet or the ref calls "release" for whatever reason then you must let go.

Thanks for the upload. How high are the chances of damaging your face and ears while doing the jackal? the Netherlands

It's funny but the commenters wank on about the so called Jackal but you never get a youtube clip of the 101 best Jackals and Scrums but always the best tries, tackles and fights.
