Ian, thank you! I try to do my best to only post interesting/helpful stuff. I don’t alway succeed, but I try!

Love it, I've just finished my fence and was thinking about staining my posts a different colour and seeing yours has done it for me. The top board is also a good idea. It makes the fence more different from the standard fences . I like it 😊, as always ❤️ from Scotland.

Lewis, thank you! We had the posts dark brown before and wanted to change it up. I really like the contrast. The top cap board also seems to help keep the fence boards from warping in and out at the top. As always, I appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to comment :) sounds like you need to get a channel going, you have a lot of projects as well!

@@PottersWork I am just about finished all my work, been at it since 2016 it's just some finishing touches like your fence. I do a lot of dark grey or slate grey as you so rightly pointed out the contrast brings out the shape and colour of projects.

We really like gray and slate colors as well! If you ever do any vids of your projects I would like to see them! I like seeing what other people have done for future inspiration at our home. Especially interested since you are in Scotland!

What color code/manufacturer for the post stain?
@PottersWork4 жыл бұрын
Lloyd, it’s Cabot acrylic solid color deck stain...I can’t remember the color name but it is dark charcoal and there weren’t a ton of color variations. You have it mixed in the store (at our local Menards). Hope that’s helpful!

Great fence but treated pickets a Garbo from personal experience 🤮 they always end up bow in or out

I've always had good luck with the treated pickets...I always hand pick the driest ones though. I actually had one of my 6x6 posts bow on me a little I noticed the other day though. I've had that with 4x4's many times, but never a 6x6. I would have loved to use cedar, but it would have tripled the cost and wasn't in my budget.
