CW, You have a Addiction for Contenders Like Me ! I got it Worse ! 17 Frames and 56 barrels ! Most calibers , I have pistol and rifle barrel in the same caliber ! Like 410 in 10' and 24" shotgun . My Grandfather & Dad both said Buying a Gun was Better then Putting Money in the Bank ! Keep the Addiction Going !

That's a very nice Contender collection. I wish I'd have asked my Dad for his before he sold it. He bought it as soon as the TC14 was introduced. Later he wanted a 35 Rem barrel but never got one, He offered and at the time he sold it and I just didn't want a TC 14 in 44 Mag. Now I really regret it. The old Tasco higher end scopes were made in Japan and were very nice.

@@cw2a Sometimes we let good ones get away and regret it later. The trigger on that gun was incredible. I'd thought about a 25-35 barrel, .223 Hornet or 22 KHornet, 35 Rem, and some smaller pistol cals like the 32-20 Like yours, 32 ACP which I have a strange fondness for, 357 Mag, and who knows what else. I tend to like some of the strange/unpopular calibers , If anyone gets my choices it would probably be you

I have done a few triggers on Contenders and it's not difficult (just stoning and spring change and they are really nice when done!! I agree on the 44. But Id like a 10" 41!! I was always a 45 over 44 guy. Never drawn to the 35 Rem in this. Always Having a Maxi it was too close to justify. 100% on the ol Tasco Euro and PRO Class optics!! I have a 1.25-4 coming too!!

@@cw2a Dad had that trigger breaking like a glass rod at about 2 1/2lbs. Yes, I'm also a 41 Mag lover. My Mom had a nickel S&W model 57 6'' I also should have bought. As she got older she couldn't handle it anymore.

I found a fair deal on a 14" 41 I could have shortened... But been buying lil too much 😜 so I passed. But I would like one!!

Love TC bought my first in 1981 44 mag super 14 with a TC 2.5 still have ir. Have 8 calibers and my favorite is my 204 Ruger. Run the 204 on a SSK/50 frame excellent loaded down to about 3800 fps. Also into Encores as well all my favorite furearms.

Your at least 4-5 person expressing favors for the 204 and 17's in these Contenders!!! Smallest I have owned is a Hornet. There must be something to it!!! I shot the 30 Herrett yesterday in 20° weather using a 4227/cast bullet just to FF brass and the durn thing shot 1 - 1-5" groups! VERY HAPPY!! Merry Christmas Brother!!

The 30H I had did really well with Ranch Dog 165s. Wish I would have kept that but sold it after I got my 7-30 Waters barrel.

I think you know my affection for the 7/30's. Now I have two again and love that! I passed on a deal on a 7 tcu just cause of the 7/30. Im watching for a 6 or a 6.5 TCU tho!!! :)

Good morning Chris!!! Still looking for two parts for that bolt. Apparently dedicated Claw parts different from the pusher bolt parts. 99% I found a guy with them. But Ol timer that dont work fast or in cold or in snow... As you know its December in New England here... Might be a while!! Bought mounts and a optic. Just waiting to unvale with some videos on reloading it! Probably Rumble only. Merry Christmas Brother!!

@@cw2a TC's are interesting, I'd love to have one but they are very expensive and less common than regular rifles in Canada. They also fall into a weird classification here. Handguns must stay as handguns, so range use only. If imported as a rifle it should remain a rifle but if you convert it to handgun it stays that way forever.

Good stuff bud. I have a.357 Herret Contender. A couple of rifle Encore barrels, 280 Rem and a 6.5 BRM, (EABCO) and a .243 pistol barrels. The optics struggle is real! 😅

Have had TC Contenders Gen I since mid 80's and love them. Are you a member of the Thompson Center Association? They have a nice magazine called One Good Shot.

Ive never had a contender . A good friend had a one years ago in 44mag and 30herit . My local shop has had one in 45/70 14 inch barrel. In real nice condition,no scope tho. They want 750 wishing everyone a blessed and A Merry Christmas ✝️🙏

Well good 🌄 MR Longshot. Not it's necessary to restate either my passion for single shots, or the contender. I believe I may have made it painfully clear before. Already mentioned old cartridges of my past, as well the current line up of choices I have on hand. Versatility has been a priority for me. Lately I have for better or worse have been considering two more cartridges to the line up. 41 Remington magnum, and 10mm auto. The 10mm in part to have a secondary platform and barrel length to test my Ruger super redhawk loads in. As usual everything in my household is is slow. I have settled on a bullet design, decided to only one weight. There is other bullets available currently that I think will work for the other weights I mentioned. Just received my dies's, and will order my desired mold with my specs from AA on payday. As for optics I have different experiences and opinions based on my past habits. Or flaws if you will. Today my hunting style has changed drastically. As you know multiple reasons. Mountain man

My 10" 22H has Boush n Lomb 1.5, 10" 357max 4x Lupy n 14" 6TCU 2-7 Tasco. I would 2x the Bee, Variable on 30H and red dot the 22LR. That 7x fixie needs to adorn a target setup.

Thanks Brother!! Good advice!! I mounted the 2x Leupy on the Bee. But I just picked up a Tasco 1.5-4 that probably will get moved to the bee. I have a couple GREAT Aim Point 2 Rifle red dots. They are on Muzzle loaders. Im gonna swap on small Monstrum scopes to them and move the Aim Points to some Contender Bbls. (I like the look better then modern ted dots on these.) I mounted the 7x on the LR to test accuracy. WOW WOW WOW. SAME HOLE@ 50' indoors!!!!! (Eley ammo) outdoors WELL under 1"!!! The 30H got that Simmons 2.5-7. Its shooting well! But I think Ill move that 2x Leupy or a 3x Burris I forgot that I had.

Contender bbl's can keep ya busy for months. Endless combinations of scopes/bbl's. My .357Mag bbl would put 5 shots under an inch at 50 yrds all day long. My 14" 7mmTCU would put 3shots in a 1 1/2" group at 100yrds from the bench w/ leupold 2.5x8x handgun scope. Well it did once, and that counts, even if all the witnesses have passed. 🤣🤣🤣

Im thinking Ill watch for another Burris for it. I really like 2 - 3x for s hunting hand gun. I feel it simply all thats needed. But love "power" or "zoomies" when its more a target barrel/caliber. I was SO SO tempted @ a 7tcu last week but resisted. As Id need dies as I sold mine. Plus this 7/30 shoots and can do absolutely anything a TCU can ballistically. I passed on a 14" 41 mag bbl too. If it was a 10".... Id be looking for a scope to ho on it! :)
