Yeah HGSS were pretty needed considering Johto Pokémon were so scattered between the gen 3 games and those couldn’t connect to the gen 2 games. Fun fact, Hooh and Lugia were considered mythical and weren’t needed for the National Dex in gen 3 and Diamond and Pearl since there was no way to get them outside of the Navel Rock events in FRLG & Emerald, and obviously HGSS weren’t out yet when Diamond and Pearl came out

For me, a good remake is a game that brings everything from the games they are based on, or bring an equivelent or better if the features do not come back, while also bringing a reason to come back. FrLg Does all of these. HgSs does all of these OrAs ALMOST does that. (Know its overstated, but the Battle Mason does not square up at all to the Battle Frontier/Tower) BDSP... doesn't do that. A lot of the features that returned either left out a bulk of what made them fun, or were just downright removed. Contests are WAY worse than the DP versions. Underground, despite having brand new Biomes you can find pokemon, had traps completely removed, as well as Secret Bases. (I refuse to call those glorified trophy rooms "Secret Bases". You can't decorate. You can't play the flag minigame, there arent unique layouts. It's just a empty hole of disapointment.) Diglett Minigame is more of a pain than anything else, and most Online interactivity was removed. Again, biomes are cool, but they were added at the cost of everything else that was good about the underground. Pal Park... is actually good. Ramanas Park is a good replacement, and is the only place with proper Platinum Content. BDSP gives little to no reason to actually come back to it, aside from nostolgia. While it was inevitable, part of what made Remakes so fun was using new pokemon in older enviornments. Asking for all 800+ pokemon is too much, but I wish they at least added 100 gen 1-8 pokemon, so that we could at least use SOME newer pokemon. In terms of 3rd Version content, While a remake doesnt HAVE to have it to be good, I think it's stupid not to include it. 3rd Versions are just Remakes but a year or two later. They bring so many improvements to the regions they take place in, and BDSP suffers from it the most, since DP were probably the WORST posisble games to make faithful remakes of, since the original games were so rushed and unpolished. That being said, I do enjoy BDSP. Mostly because of the bugs and the few proper improvements they have, and I do understand why they chose the faithful route. However, these games suffer way too much from that, and while the bugs are... really the selling point for me tbh, I dont think they are good remakes. Remasters? Maybe. But not full $60 remakes

@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 I am aware, which is why I'm not blaming ILCA for BDSP's condition at launch. When it comes to SwSh, I don't really have a opinion on it much anymore. But the base game itself still lacks despite several cuts. Again, not a lazy job, just a rushed one. A huge chunk of my hours in gens 4-7 were spent with my cousin as we grinded the battle towers together. Im left breeding pokemon in BDSP but now getting to a point where there's not really a purpose in doing so anymore. The multiplayer experience in pokemon is what keeps me playing so to have a game in BDSP where they removed battle matchmaking, removed multi battles, gutted pokemon contests, etc just makes the game more boring, which is unfortunate because the single player experience is better than the original DP but that can only carry me so far as Ive already played this as a kid

Bdsp are a disaster compared to the other remakes. Frlg added new areas, Pokémon that weren’t originally available in those new areas, and fixed a lot of gen 1 issues with kanto, on top of making gen 1 more accessible for another generation. BDSP needed to do more. it needed to be ORAS but for sinnoh and it’s not that.
@yorecf96412 жыл бұрын
FRLG feel like the best way to play through Kanto to me, though I agree with your sentiment from other videos wishing that newer evolutions of Gen 1 Pokémon like Steelix, Scizor, Umbreon, etc. were available in the base game. Other than that, they were pretty good. HGSS felt like the best remakes since they (mostly) fixed the roster issues that the Gen 2 games had (not sure why so many of the dark types are only available after the League again. I demand the ability to use Houndoom against Morty and Will!), added new areas and overall had the best improvements from the originals. One thing that I wish is that they’d kept Red’s team members at the same levels of the Gen 2 games and lowered the levels of the League rematches a bit since grinding for Red feels just as tedious as it did back in the original games. ORAS games were cool though they were made much easier than the originals (Winona’s Altaria no longer has Dragon Dance, Steven’s Metagross no longer has Earthquake for fire types and other steel types, etc.) and there were still missed opportunities for battling more than two or three Megas, which was Gen 6’s big thing. Let’s Go…weren’t my favorite games, so we’ll leave it at that. BDSP have been fun so far, though the gym leaders and League members could’ve really used their Platinum rosters and some of the cutscenes REALLY needed to use the battle models instead of the Chibi sprites. Cyrus wasn’t threatening when he approached me to battle on Spear Pillar after his plans were foiled: he was a comical, angry Chibi. ORAS knew when to switch up the models but these games didn’t, to their detriment. Speaking of Cyrus: it would’ve been nice if we got a little more dialogue with him like in Platinum. He just felt…bland without it.

I just really hate that they went with Diamond & Pearl as a base instead of Platinum. Like... why would you do that? For what reason? Idk, it's just so weird to me... but I won't go on and on about it. What I will say is that I really wish they'd have kept secret bases the same as in ORAS. That was genuinely one of my favorite things to do was decorate my base. Nowadays I just have a giant hole in the wall of an empty underground cavern where I store my Pokémon mannequins. Cool.

10:48 I'm STILL waiting for that to be added. I told myself I wouldn't play BDSP until it is, as Wonder Trading is something I've been doing in my playthroughs since it originated in X/Y

While Gen 2 isn't anywhere close to being my favorite, you can't deny that HGSS are the best remakes. FRLG/ORAS are a close tied second, LGPE I'd put at third and BDSP are just.. no. There's such a thing as **too** faithful to the point where there's no reason in it existing.

The original gen 1 was the best, yes its alittle old but a true classic. A simple time

The only spider movie I want to see is the lost indie film Spiderman vs Kraven from the 1970's. No interest in new films whatsoever.

I started with pokemon yellow 20 years ago. I liked every pokemon game up to gen 5. Everything after it with the exeption of bdsp has been terrible...

In my opinion ORAS is the worst of the remakes, they made so many changes that if I want to experience original Ruby and Sapphire I have to play the originals, but for the others remakes they do substitute well their original games that unless for nostalgia for the graphics the remakes are the best options

Not even close considering GF didn't fixed some of the big problems the original games has and including new ones like the horrible speed of Gen IV engine.
