Continental Knitting using a Knitting Finger Ring

A demonstration of how to knit continental style using a knitting loop ring or thimble. The knitting ring helps to keep 2 or more colours of yarn separated, to reduce tangles during knitting.

How are you keeping tension? I can't figure out how to keep tension as I usually use that finger for holding the yarn.

Sorry for the delay in replying - I have been away travelling. I give the yarn a slight tug by just extending my index finger out a bit more.

I've been thinking about getting one of those rings. Do you still use it?

Always. Once I got used to using it I find that using the ring has improved my knitting tension a lot. And for 2 /3 /4 strand colour work, it keeps the yarns from tangling up.

@@allfiberarts Thank you. Good to know. I get frustrated trying to keep them in line on my finger. Getting one soon! Wish more jewelers made ones like this. Only one I found is from Finland.

My beloved made me some out of espresso spoons we found in a bric-à-brac shop. Silver-plated no less. It works a treat. I use them for knitting and crochet. Makes for wonderful tension. I keep one per project bag.
