What Do You Do When The Unexpected Happens?
Film a Contingency Review! In this tenth episode, we test a 2022 Peugeot e-Rifter GT in French specification, which is also known as the Vauxhall Combo-e Life, Toyota Proace City Verso Electric or the Citroen e-Berlingo.
On this occasion, which may be the first time this car is tested on UK roads on KZbin, I fail to carry out a 0-60 mph test, discover a wealth of gloveboxes and folding seats, enjoy a very smooth ride, set the controls in English and generally ramble on about things of no consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

Thank you, sir! Yes, vans work hard for a living, don't they? I think that this one came out OK, despite the fact that I think we did this in under an hour. It's an interesting car anyway, the passenger version would make more sense than the cargo one in this instance.

Yes, the "smooth brains" in government don't really have a grip on reality or how normal people get around.

Nice to see, we’re a real fan of the Rifter and Belingo, and to see an electric one, very cool.

Thank you very much indeed, Mr and Mrs Quirk! I know you are very familiar with the combustion engine variants of these. It is a very practical car indeed.

Excellent review Sir, nice to get a glimpse of a Rifter. My mother in law law is getting one of these as a mobility vehicle to take out father in law who is in a wheel chair in the next couple of months. I really like the modern Peugeot's with the I cockpit.

I think that this would be an excellent choice for a wheelchair user, Mr Watters! Either you like the i-Cockpit, or you don't, this was better than on the 208 that I tried in 2020, I will say that. Thank you again, sir!

Not a bad looking van/people mover, But it's missing a glorious High-pressure direct injection Thingummyjig. I do like the colour Peugeot have released some very classy and tasteful colours of late, there's the Amazonite Grey, it's got a hints of green very smart indeed.

Well sir, if you are here for discussion of the forbidden fuel, unfortunately I will be denying you that pleasure... We do like dark green cars, sir, they are indeed very smart.

I find this quite appealing…especially the sliding doors, split tailgate and bronze coloured dashboard (surely worth buying for that alone?!)…and not too sillily priced for an EV…my only minor gripe is where the designers have “kicked up” the corners of the windows - presumably to make it look less van like, but I personally wouldn’t have bothered (I’m not keen on seeing it on the inside - they seem to have blanked it off inside on the rear windows but not on the fronts?). As for the circular aperture to the right hand side of the gear selector, my guess would be if you tick the baguette holder box on the options list, the plastic bung is removed and….voila…!

Not really sure about the window design, sir... The bronze coloured dashboard is a bit different from most modern cars, and there are lots and lots of places for baguettes, microphones, secret mission documents and all sorts of other things. The price for a seven seater EV is extremely reasonable, actually.

FWIW regards the front windows. When you’re inside and driving you don’t notice. Even looking out of the passenger side window. Yeah if you look for it then you will see it. But - more importantly- you’ll actually be able to see. A lot of family and friends comment on how good the visibility is in this car. Mine is a diesel version. I’m keeping hold of it until the prices for EV versions come down a bit.

Thank you Mr Lloyd, I very much enjoyed this review of the peugeot e-rifter, I'm slowly starting to appreciate electric cars, but I'm still not convinced they are the long term future for personally transport, but they do have there place, again thank you.

Well sir, the petrol version of this should be available again soon, but legislation seems to dictate that electric cars will become more and more popular, and this is Mr Jackson's fourth one!

Had the opportunity of buying an e208 on launch day but opted for the petrol version. The only reason was the range of the vehicle. My petrol 208 will get 440mls out of a full tank in eco mode whereas a friends e208 will get around 162mls in the same mode. I will be waiting a few more years to see if Peugeot improves the battery life before I jump to e-power.

Thank you, Thomas! Yes, if you look back on the channel two years, you will see that I drove the Corsa F 1.2 SRi and the electric version of the same in March 2020 (although I just filmed the walkarounds as I had no camera mount back in the day). They are very similar to the 208 and e-208. The SRi I drove was an awful lot cheaper than the Corsa-e, even with the grant taken into account. Those Puretech 1.2 engines are extremely economical. This platform needs an electric version with more range, you are absolutely right!

I have owned a e-208 for 1,5 year now and no problem with range, even in real winters it is enough > 200 km but might be that we have enough charging infrastructure in our country which makes it easy living?

Quick question on the handbrake - on this and other EV’s does it hold when park is selected like a normal automatic or do you have to engage the handbrake to stop it rolling?
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, like all automatics, park will lock the car in gear and it will stop it moving unless another gear is selected and the footbrake is pressed. The electronic handbrake goes on and off automatically.

When is a van not a van ? When it's a Bus, a Limousine, an SUV, a Nursery, a Storage Unit. This e Rifter could be anything that it wanted to be. 12 out of 10 for practicality. Are the heating and ventilation any good?
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think they are, or at least Mr Jackson says so, and I believe him! There is a lot of things which this could be classed as, a van doesn't quite sum it up adequately. It was extremely comfortable when I drove it, even the body lean was more than acceptable.

Probably one of the most spacious vehicles you can buy, and a ridiculous amount of interior storage.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 2 жыл бұрын
It is completely ridiculous, sir! The amount of stuff you can get in there for the size of the car, especially as it is electric, is absolutely ludicrous.
