Good information, thank you. At approximately 7:50, she starts talking about how to do contrast showers to boost immunity, improve sleep, and for weight loss.

Contrast showers have helped me greatly over the years. Whenever I’m feeling low or in pain, a contrast shower boosts my mood and reduces pain. Thank you for sharing this.

Excellent explanation in science. I agreed very much after trying Estonia smoke sauna some 20 times in 3 years, in both summer Estonia, and winter Estonia. In winter, we even roll our body over snow or jump into their small square cold water well (in -17 degrees winter). Seems they have discovered the wisdom of sauna. Thanks Dr Talia, now I practice even when back to Hong Kong.

This makes me wonder about hydrotherapy in general and what other techniques might we be able to implement at home. I'm also wondering about cold vs. contrast, but there are likely other applications. Thank you for the reference to Dr. Patricks work, will be checking out her videos now.

Dr. Roger Seheult on Med Cram just did a nice overview of this comparing the Finn's and their saunas, Dr. Kellog from Battle Creek, Michigan who used it to treat infectious disease, etc.

Dr Talia..i have been doing cold showers fpr close to 6 months with enjoying a lot of Benefits..my question is that i always start with Hot and clean.myself and everything and keep a reasonably Hot and then end with a 5 to 7 minute cold shower and it is given me great benefits as i have no inflammation no soreness n better immunity..my question is that i dont do contrast for 5 to 10 times but i do contrast only for once but my body is in Hot 3-5 minutes befpre i switch to cold so is that enough or should i do as you prescribed to get the Maximum Benefits...Thanks s lot in advance..Great Information!

Yes! Can you share any links or readings between this and sleep? Because i take contrast showers every other day in the evenings after work and I feel sooo relaxed and tired afterwards, I fall asleep really easily and I've been waking up really early lately without an alarm clock. I don't feel groggy or sluggish when I wake up. I was wondering if its attributed to that?

For some reason if I put warm and then cold water on my scalp I get little bumps on the back of my scalp. If I itch them they turn into little sores. When I use only cold water it won't happen.

Does this help with hormonal acne? Short background ever since my last pregnancy I had acne and I thought it would have gone away once I gave birth but it never did. Anyway it's been 3 days since doing this and my acne is noticeably better like way better. Not sure if it's the showers but that's they only thing I have done differently.

I have been doing strictly cold showers for 4 years straight. Not a single hot shower since. I have not gotten sick in that timeframe. Not even the common cold. However i wonder if toggling hot and cold may be better. Do u see any issues with strictly cold showers? I may try this for a month and see if i notice any differences. Thank you

I would think you could incorporate ending a shower hot or sitting in a sauna for a bit could be beneficial. Maybe just try it out and see how you feel after.

@@FunAtico100 Thanks for asking. So in terms of health, still the same. Have not gotten sick (no cold nothing), so adding the alternating cycle of hot and cold didnt after my health. However i noticed that i sleep much much better when i cycle between hot and cold! perhaps thats a good thing? another thing is i thought it would be easier since now i am getting the luxury of heat as well, but when i cycle back to cold, its like turning the cold shower from the very beginning! haha When its a strictly cold shower your body gets used to the cold after 3 minutes... because it becomes numb! so its easier after 3 minutes...but when the alternating hot and cold its actually harder in my opinion, i never thought that would be the case. I am still going to cycle for another 6 months and see! Maybe i can give another 6 months update soon.

@@IamKonstantin thank you so much! I am at the beginning of the topic "regenerating shower" ahaha and so I am trying to understand what's best, contrast showers or straight cold ones. Anyway, I have started with only cold showers, but after few days I was already get used to it, and so I have imagined that the duration of the cold sould have been much longer over the time. So, under this point of view, the contrast makes you feel always uncomfortable, and maybe this reaction stimulates better the stress response that helps the body. Thank you again, and I'll wait for your new updates about it :D

@@FunAtico100 Hi Antonio, for cold showers to be effective, you have to be in at least 7 minutes long! From the research i did in the past that is what i found. Also i dont know where you are...but the winter times are brutal when you are doing cold showers. Summer times are easy...it doesnt even feel like a cold. Enjoy this journey!

One question, what are the benefits of hot showers? I see the benefits of cold and i am doing it for about a month, likely to change to hot then cold if its better for me...

heat activates heat shock proteins and has hormetic benefit. if things get hot enough it can be a powerful mood elevator. The body responds by cooling down, which can lower inflammation and reverse mood symptoms. A psychiatrist called Dr. Charles Raison has done studies with heat therapy and major depression with amazing results! hot showers may not be enough but saunas and hot baths can be very therapeutic.
